I have a feeling that it'll probably be in the $29-33k price range if they're going to go with "less than a Chevy Volt" quote. And factoring in the federal plug in tax credit which'll help bring the cost down a little.

Then it'll be up to Toyota's sales and marketing team to make people aware of it. And if not enough people are aware, then bumping the incentives up or lowering the MSRP a little.

GM has shown little interest I selling Volt. That leaves the opportunity for Toyota to market without being tied to legacy.

toyota has shown little interest in marketing the prius, buyers have had to do all the heavy lifting. let's hope that changes with prime, but i don't hold out much hope.

Truth. And when they do market it, they do it stupidly. Getaway car? The cartoon "green car" commercial with the dopey singing?

Give us some real info to work with. Like the tech. The safety (my life was saved twice, my wife's once in serious collisions in these cars). The reliability record. Not just the MPGs.

ConfIrmed Toyota News from Holland. The Prius Prime costs 35k, as expensive as the fully loaded Prius . The Prime comes also loaded, the only extra for another 1.5k is JBL audio, IPA and extra parking sensors and wireless loading of Phone.

Does that price include all your taxes and fees? How does that compare to the price of the PiP, assuming you even got it there, or the Volt/Ampera?

We might see a decontented trim for lower than a fully loaded Prius here, but the apparent pricing isn't enough to counter the draw backs of the car for many.

Taxes All included, during the year you get tax reductions depending on use. The former PIP (base) was a bit cheaper, the fully loaded was 40K. The Ampera was 35k.

So, they don't offer the solar roof option here?

The solar option is around $3000 in Japan.

If this option would be 2700 here, I might think about it, as it gives an extension of the EV range of up to 15%, or even 20%, which can be up to 10 km or 6 to 7 miles extra (assuming the extra battery has about 1 kWh usable charge).

I'll create a new thread for "confirmed" pricing so people don't have to dig around.

    Some.
Same price as fully loaded Prius in Netherlands can mean the same for the US. The Touring 4 starts at $30k, which is also close to the PiP's starting price, and the C-max Energi's. This appears to be a reasonable estimate. There is still plenty of room for Toyota to maneuver in regards to different trims and equipment levels, but I think this confirmed price is enough to count out a surprise lower price that some are hoping for.

    You can find it here:

    Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybride | Toyota.nl

    and the price list here:

    http://data.toyota.nl/home/data/ToyotaV8/prijslijsten/pdf_prijslijsten/Prius-plugin.pdf

(I hope Google translate works well on this; is there a Google translate that works for pdf?)

But separate from this they wrote us that by the end of the year also the solar roof option will be available here, but no pricing officially known yet.

Prius ranges from $24k something to $30k something. If the Prime is $30k something fully loaded except for $1000 to $2000 in options, I do not see the entry trim starting around the $24k something of the Prius. Toyota can cut margins on the extra options in the loaded car to defray the cost of the PHEV bits. The lower trims have less margin to cut.

Google translate didn't work on the Toyota.nl site for me.
The question I had was if the price includes any incentives you might have?

then, we cannot really guess the two lower trim prices from the loaded price. for pip, it was substantial.
