There must be a closer option for you, but the best that I know of is in the Concord/Walnut Creek area.

His work schedule is generally full for weeks/months out, and you might get lucky and be offered a time slot.

My blackstone oil analysis results are below, if text in "comments" section are too small to read let me know. Thanks again guys for helping with the maintenance during the meet ups & the almighty OCC install.

    blackstone.jpg

Had to do an oil change at 11,000 miles due to life circumstances, usually it's changed in 13,000 mile intervals. Not a trace of coolant or water in the sample so the OCC is definitely paying off.

I plan to send a follow up sample with 13,000 miles because the tested sample was from January to June so I'd like to see a summer (June to December) sample test result. The test result was to determine if the transition to Penzoil Platinum Ultra Plat w/5K OCI was an order, since sample didn't come back w/high metal wear I will stick to Redline & 13,000 mi OCI for now.

Meet ups will happen again, some of us are due for maintenance, BBQ and fancy assortment of beers.

By the time the next one is, the hole in the ground in my backyard should have water in it:).

It just took the pandemic to convince the wife it was a good idea:love:.

We'll have a way to cool off if I host (y).

Hey all. This is a good a place as any. So next month I’m moving the family out of California to Meridian Idaho. Thanks for all the fun but it looks like another meet here in the SF Bay Area is off the table.

Take care. Thanks for the meetup. It was helpful for me. Managed to bring my car back and the problem was that they needed to add more sealant (or something along the line).

I'm looking forward to the next meetup since I still need the EGR cooler cleaned. I can't host due to my circumstances, but I should be able to bring some meat and help other members with simple tasks like changing oil, tranny fluid, and tire pressure/rotate.

When we get out of COVID (or at least with less local cases), I can foresee a meet up again:).

Might have to put some new protocols in place, but that's doable;).

No need to share certain things:cool:.

But if at my place, the pool should be done by then(y).

    Hi everyone,
Just moved to the Sacramento area last week from socal. Looking to purchase the gen 2 club in the near future. Still looking shopping around in my budget. Just jumping on here for research purposes. anyways...I do graphic design/photo/video. Would you all be interested in getting some merch done for the next meetup? Shirts, caps, stickers, pins, maybe? I'd love to do a highlight montage as well. I love the prius community you guys have been cultivating.

Anyone close to the tri valley (Dublin, San Ramon, Pleasonton) area with a laptop/vci/techstream and interested in helping me diagnose a red triangle with no codes detected by the shop? I'm in San Ramon, vehicle is a 2005 prius (donated car through a non profit, I'm getting the car ready to hand off to a client of the non profit.

Happy to buy someone a delish meal for the help. Thread in question:

Hello, looks like there are no meets going on in Fremont because of the pandemic.

Anyone have a good referral to a local mechanic or is Berkley the best bet? I'm at 101,000 miles and I think a major service is due.
    Would appreciate any advice.

    Gen 3 2010

    Must change from the manual.
    Oil
    Engine Coolant change

Should I also do the following?
    Inverter Coolant change
Transaxel fluid change (have no idea when this was ever changed)
Brake fluid change (I've had the car 4 years now, brakes fine but also read about bleeding might mess up ABS)
    (Brake pads were changed)

From the forum it seems these are due or close:
    Spark plugs
Clean hybrid system (Not really sure what this entails)...

Called 2 dealerships and was quoted pretty high compared to searches..
I also am a bit unsure as one place quoted me $250 for engine and inverter while another gave 2 sep quotes of $250 + 250...

    Oil change : $140
    Engine coolant : $250
    Inverter : $250
    Transaxel : $260
    Brake fluid : $170

It looks like $1,000 to turn a few bolts and bleed out the system then refill the liquid lol.. I know i'm oversimplifying it but it seems a bit ludacris.

TBH im not even confident that the price will be the same once i get to the dealer by the way they quote things ... I've seen them do this tactic of making you wait basically killing your day and then quote you some higher than discovered price... You want your car back and lost a couple of hrs already and are at their mercy.

I looked at some of the DIY videos, it doesn't seem that hard but I don't have a lift or tools.. I heard there are some places where you can rent just a lift and DIY anyone know what this is?

I've used this place since I bought my Prius back in 2017 anytime I couldn't do a maintenance on my own. I'm happy with them. They focus only on Toyota and Lexus. His name is Anthony, if you end up calling them.

(I can't seem to add a link right now)

The shop is TLS Auto Service in San Jose.

Yikes!!! Life in the SF Bay Area is expensive... I usually do all those things (other than brake fluid) for 1/3 that price...

Luscious Garage in San Francisco is amazing and their reputation is beyond compare. Absolutely fantastic.

But you can also do all of these things yourself, and you can find very clear videos explaining each one here:
Nutz About Bolts Prius Maintenance Videos | PriusChat

All those prices are extremely too high. Oil change is about $50 with good oil. But if you can do your own oil change, the engine coolant is very easy and the inverter coolant not much harder at all. Trans fluid is a pain -- it can be messy. I think Luscious does it for $100. Brake fluid is easy esp if you have two bottles to catch the fluid, like these excellent ones:
Schwaben - 007481SCH01A - Brake Bleeder Catch Bottle

If you have a garage you can work in, get a floor jack from Harbor Freight; they are excellent. And you'll need two jack stands and that's all done.

You can do all this stuff yourself. You can Facetime me if you have questions while you're doing it. One at a time, and you'll build up confidence.

I'd be down to attend this a couple times a year, if there's one closer to Sac that's even better for me. I have a lot of tools and a proclivity for studying online repair tutorials.
