A while back I was changing the shocks on my Austin and the parts store that I went to was swearing about the Monroe shocks. Okaaay man. Ill bring a six pack tonight for I need a beer with stories like these. Babieh!

 

Those actually look fairly hi-tech, including safety pins and asymmetrical cutouts

I really wish there was some place that would allow you to rent like a mechanic's bay for a few hours and use some tools (or bring your own even) cause I end up paying through the nose repedly for stuff i could do myself no problem if i had a damn space to do it in. I got pretty bad back issues so using Jack stands and getting under the car is rather difficult and I try to avoid it. I think if somebody opened a self serve mechanic space it might do well. Or even if the county had someplace like that with some pits, you wouldn't even need expensive lifts. Idk its probably a dumb idea for 1,000 reasons I haven't thought about

 

That's awesome that you are offering to do that. It's worth it, just to learn how to use a lift on a Prius. Do you have volunteers to show people how to operate them? Because I am sure you will be kept busy. I'm on the east coast, so I cannot attend, otherwise I would help.

 

If you are in the military (or are retired from the military/DoD) most bases have hobby shops that you can use. A lift is 5 or 8 dollars an hour (I forget which).

 

There is something like this place in SJ if you really need the lift.
Otherwise, it's too expensive for me for routine maintenance.
