I took a Bachelor of the Liberal Arts from Temple University back in '72. I also served a full apprenticeship as an industrial electrician, my present occupation.

I recognized the hybrid stuff in the Prius as the same technology used in many servo drive systems. They run 24/7 where i work and are extremely reliable. I don't know about this gasoline vapor explosion device though, doesn't sound very reliable to me.

Yup, she invented spread-spectrum (frequency-hopping) radio transmission. Something almost all wireless systems use these days.

Wonder if her heirs get any of the royalties from Bluetooth, WiFi, etc.?

Nope. She donated her work to the War Effort. What a gal..

 

If driving a locomotive classifies a person as an Engineer can I call myself an Engineer 'cause I drove two ASW destroyers in the navy......no, not both at once ....one after the other. :lol:

B.Sc. Computer Science and B.Sc. Economics (Minor in Stats) courtesy of the University of Utah. Depending on project, have had the title "Enjun-eer" a few times.

Have thought of going back for either a Masters or another B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering. I'm doing so much work now in industry I might as well make it official.

A friend of mine gave me a neat birthday gift last year: a baseball cap with the title "Educated Idiot" on it. Yeah, I eventually saw the humor in it.

 

Ph.D. in physics (if that counts).

But I got my Bachelor's from a great engineering school, Michigan Technological University, where we liked to say:

"Before I went to Michigan Tech, I couldn't even spell 'n-gin-eer'.

Now I are one."

Degrees across the board in biomedical engineering--so, I don't know if that counts as engineering . Now I'm going back to school and getting my MPH. I think I'm a professional student. But I haven't had to pay for my education since undergrad, so as long as it's free, it's okay.

I do everything from IC design to firmware to software to Biomedical Engineering. I have several awards and patents, including a technical Emmy Award.

Lately I've been working mostly with security, software defined radio, and digital cinema. I also do some outside consulting for some startup in the CAE field.

In my spare time I've built a hybrid ESL/TL (electrostatic/transmission line) speaker system that I'm extremely proud of.

Does this count?

I've got a M.Sc in mechanical engineering, specialised in energy technology. Currently doing my Ph.D in that field. However, we are not working on new "green" cars, it's more the power plant stuff.

I have a BA in Physics. Jet Propulsion Lab called me an Associate Research Engineer a few decades back. Guess that makes me an engineer of sorts.
