Poll: Are you Satisfied with the Prius Seats ?

Look like you either really don't care or just plain hate them, i have been driving truck for the past 20 years +o- 3.5 million miles so far no back pain related to my job.

When i bought my prius i really did pay attention to the seats and seating position and for me it is a perfect match i am 5.10 165lbs and they fit like a glove can't wait for my first really long road trip with my prius.

 

I don't think a lot of people drove a Prius for a while before buying one. I drove rental Prii for over 20k miles before I decided to order one. Seats fit my nice person perfect

Just got back from a 3385 mile trip to Florida... visiting family for most of December. Drove our Prius for 23.5 hours to Orlando in complete comfort. Only stopped at low fuel for food or snack... stretch... quick walk about and the rest each 500 miles or so. Ended up in Ft Lauderdale and then Tampa at the end of the month before heading back home. Broke the return trip into 2 days of approximately 750 miles each. Had no issues

I don't have a good back. I hurt it in a bad parachute landing when I was in the USAF in the 1970s. Demo jump for dignitaries in marginal variable wind conditions. Winds speed came up about the time I landed. Got slammed to the ground with enough force to break the webbing in my helmet. As I gathered up my equipment, I felt electric like shocks running up my spine. My back eventually went out on me for the first time about 10 years after the hard landing, and has occasionally gone out, usually a couple of times a year.

Have had absolutely no problem with the Prius seats... although I admit I didn't like our 2005 Prius ergonomics very much. Have enjoyed our Gen III and continues to be a frugal and comfortable long distance travel car. I still like the current interior, except I do wish it had more soft touch materials covering the cabin. The light plastics were done to save weight I'm sure... and this is a Prius after all, skewed heavily toward efficiency, so keeping weight down is essential. Instrument displays are the only real qualm I have with this car. They should be in front of the driver. The nearly central display position doesn't make much sense to me.

Unfortunate that the Prius seat doesn't seem to fit everyone, but I don't think you'll find a car that is so adjustable that it would adapt to fit every single person on the planet. I also still like the console/bridge... very neat and puts every function easily at hand. It's probably a matter of individual taste, but the cockpit does wrap nicely around the driver. The Dongle is a genius bit, smooth and easy to use, placed just in the right position on the console.

I have to agree with the comment about Honda seats. They were always well designed and bolstered perfectly. Comfort and fit were exceptional for me. I haven't sat in the last couple of generations, but would guess they are still great seats. Has anyone with seat fitment problems ever contacted Corbeau or even Recaro to see if they have a fitment for Prius. Expensive, but you do get a well designed sport car seat that most people could adapt. My mother in law uses a small pillow to tune up the bottom of a BMW seat. Simple and inexpensive fitment solution that works well for her.

I'm 6'2 and have long legs and arms. I fit the Prius like it was built specifically for me. I don't really find anything wrong with the seating position but it would be nice of the front part of the seat cushion below the thighs can move up or down (perhaps the other prius packages have this option since mine is base model)

However, if I got the sunroof package, I would have probably lost an inch or two of headroom and my head would either be touching the roof, or sticking out like fred flintstone

I've owned a 1989 Honda civic hatch, a 2005 mazda3, a 1999 Subaru impreza and a 2010 Honda fit. I'd say the prius has the most comfortable driving position out of all these cars.

 

Have had my Prius for about 3 weeks now. Previous vehicle was a 2013 Altima which my wife now drives. The Altima seats were extremely comfortable. Drove the Altima yesterday and couldn't wait to get back into my Prius.

 

YUP! I feel that the prius' thigh cushion at the front of the seat is slightly higher than I what I find optimal. Otherwise no complaints.

 

I agree with the original poster. I think the Prius driver seat is terrible for my back. This is my wife's daily driver but when I drive it, I usually have back issues. My commute is 25 miles one-way and I find myself repositioning in the seat throughout the ride. This is disappointing since I'll be taking over this car for my commuter pretty soon. I'd be interested with any solutions.

 

I agree as well. The base seats in my car are quite poor and there isn't really a position where I can sit comfortably with good posture.
