So here are the posts where very similar issues are being reported being reported: BAAA: Plugin Charger issues | Page 2 | PriusChat TrinaF.: 2015 Prius Plug In "Check Hybrid System" | PriusChat OnePiP (self): Plugin Charger issues | Page 4 | PriusChat plugin: 2013 PiP Base - Check Hybrid System - Error Code P0D67? | PriusChat I had code P0D67 / 844, which, in the above list, message "#4" also lists; also the circumstances of my failure sound identical as to what #1 (BAAA) stated. As far as the age of my vehicle and time of purchase is almost exactly as #2 (TrinaF.) This is what I call a pattern. Hopefully Toyota will be forthcoming into what is going on. When I get my PiP back I'll make sure to get thorough explanation of what happened and I will post the details here. Also, I will contact Toyota Corporate.
BAAA is a 2015 also I believe. How long have the 2015's been being sold ? A month? Two at the most? Three on a forum for that new of a release to me seems excessive! And what is being done? Owners are being told it is a charger issue. It seems Toyota may not be so sure, and/or parts not available.
I just got the call that my part came in today and it's been replaced. I've been 3 weeks without my car. I'm so excited to pick it up and get my 80 mpg's back!!!! Let's hope nothing else happens......
Got a 2014 PiP Base in August 2014, drove it like a normal hybrid and rarely charged at a public 220V station for a few months. Whenever charging it at 220V, I did not experience any problems. Since April 2015, I moved to a house with a garage, now I can charge the car with the 110V charger Toyota supplied. About a month since I started charging, around mid to late May 2015, I saw "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM, STOP THE VEHICLE IN A SAFE PLACE" on my dashboard in the morning after charging. My Metromile ODBII adapter was flagging "P0D67- Battery Charger Control Module Performance", and my old school ODBII reader couldnt pull a code from the car, and shows P0000, but acknowledged that there's a code. Had the car towed to the nearest Toyota dealer. The service adviser was nice, two days later, he told me that they couldnt reproduce the problem when they charged it with a 220V system they had at the dealer. He asked me if I had any power surges, outage at the house, maybe the garage door is pulling too much current. I told him there wasn't anything that could draw alot of current inside the garage. Since they couldnt reproduce the problem, I took the car home. Within 2 weeks, car threw the same error (at 9mile EV range in the morning), since its a charging related issue, I am a bit more relaxed and cleared the code and went on with my day. Same error occur again in the following week at (3-4mile EV range in the morning). I reset the code, and did more testing of my own. I had the car plugged in and opened and close the garage, no code. Roughly a week later of normal charging, same thing happened. I have stopped charging and wonder if i threw an extra 8k down the drain to get a plugin, with 50+ payments to go. I have some family coming soon, need the car to haul things, I'll take it back to the Toyota dealer again with the 110V adapter to let them figure it out.
you're supposed to use a dedicated circuit, but i don't know if that's the problem. iirc, someone else mentioned this, but i'm not sure. you might have to plug your evse into the dealers 120v outlet, could be a bad evse.
yeah, dedicated circuit is a poor excuse. That's what the service manager told me at first. I didn't believe him, since I didn't have anything else in the garage plugged in other than a water heater and a wireless sprinkler controller. Plus I have two friends charging their Teslas from 110V outlets just fine, no complaints. I did that testing as well, it made no difference. I tried charging it twice after I came back from the dealership the first time, both time resulted in charging errors. Anyway. I went back to the dealership on a Saturday, 5-6 weeks after the first trip, for maintenance and charging problem. This time I brought my 110v charger with me. I have a Metromile adaptor plugged in, and Metromile flagged the error, emailed and texted me of this error code. This is while the car was at the dealership (indicated that the dealership was trying to reproduce the problem with the 110v charger) They replaced the charger assembly unit, priced around 1.7k. I picked it up on the following Tuesday. Car's been fine charging on 110V using the same power outlet ever since. (Dealership visit was 2 weeks before)
Greetings. I have a 2015 Prius Plug-in Hybrid S-GRADE. The same problem appeared with code P0D64, when charging a car with ESVE, I have experience in electronics, I haven’t come across a car yet, I’m studying. I tried different charging stations, the supply voltage of my electricity supplier is 220V, the car charges a little, starts to charge about 1.7 kW and after a different time (10 - 60 seconds, it used to be more) charging stops, the ignition goes out, when the ignition is turned on again, the message "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM, STOP THE VEHICLE IN A SAFE PLACE". I check the error code P0D64, I checked both the PP signals and the CP signals go pulses of 1 kHz, the voltage is about 11 volts, in case of an error it drops to 9 volts somewhere, I even checked the service signals between the AC / DC unit (G9090-47040) and the Plugin Charge Control unit (89261 -47050) at start, CHST signal = 20%, when charging it becomes 51%, after a short time it becomes 78% and the charge stops. Here on the forum I saw that there is probably a problem with the AC / DC charger software - G9090-47040, the date for my unit is 2014.08.28 14:23. I tried to consider the output of the transistor circuit with my oscillograph, I got a not very beautiful curve, and it is different all the time ... I can’t check the control keys, my oscilloscope is not optically isolated and gives an error to the EVSE charger, immediately goes into an accident ... Who knows Toyota can remotely update the software of this unit? Maybe one of the service companies encountered this problem and will be able to advise which element of the block is not working, what to check, where to dig?
