Plug-In Prius: real winter driving

Interesting to watch. It looked like your maximum speed was 41, and only briefly. So you left it switched on EV mode the whole ride, which is what I would do, but you still used plenty of ICE. I'm guessing the ICE kicked on so much largely because of the cold weather and going up hills. But your EV battery lasted 16 odometer miles, almost to the destination. I don't think my EV has ever lasted more than 10 miles at speeds below 55 mph. It looked like your EV got a LOT more running charge out of the ICE (arrows going left to right) than I do. When I'm in ICE, pretty much the only time the arrows go left to right is when I'm coasting or braking. In other words, the EV continues to drain even with ICE, whether the EV switch is on or off. Is your PiP better than mine?

 

alright! I've had enough of April's cold morning temp's It's April 14th already and still 32 degrees. Had frost on the windshield, but I'll be damned if I'm going to run the defroster, so I squirted windshield washer fluid on the windshield only to have it refreeze immediately, drove for awhile, hoping the windshield would clear up before I run out of fluid. To my luck it did clear up. (musta hit 33 degrees, lol) I only have 3 gallons of gas left and I'm trying to stretch the gas out till I get 3500 points on my SonyRewardsCard ( have 2350 right now) Bp has a $25.00 gift card for 3500 points.

Since I got my PIP: Paid $29.02 ( from my DiscoverCard) on April 24, 2012, BP Gift card July 26, 2012 ($21.40) BP Gift card December 31, 2012 ($22.01) So, in summary, I paid only $29.02 since April 24th 2012. But I am paying $15.00 a month for electricity whether I charge my PIP or not.

 

Yea! isn't it great. Freezing rain, snow and then more freezing rain today. ready for some warmer weather. So far this spring mid 40's f have been the highs mostly 30's. SUMMER I am ready!

How do you keep the ICE from coming on. When its in the 20s or even teens the ICE always wants to come on, even with the heat off and trying to drive very carefully.
