Aw! You beat me to it. I read about this yesterday. Good thing I read through the thread before replying to your previous post because I was also going to link this. I can't say I agree with vandalizing someone's car, but I can empathize with the frustration that led to it.

I'd merely impound it between other vehicles. Or maybe just take the charging cord and leave a note where he could appeal for its return.

the thing is you can't take the cord because it's part of that commercial L2 Appliance. Even if it were the portable 40 amp Tesla Appliance, they lock on to the car once charging Begins. The best you could do would be unplug it from the 50 amp source.

Was it locked in this case? If it was, I'd use other impoundment methods.

This is the case where the Tesla parked on the lawn, and was charging off a house plug.
The Home owner was alerted to it by the guys that mow his lawn. The cord getting accidentally cut by a mower or weedwhacker may have happened.

Give 'em a chance to express their excuse first, before breaking anything.
    --------------
While attending a local utility district meeting, I learned that they occasionally had some group come hang out in the parking lot for some hours at night, making use of the outside power outlets for some sort of equipment related to whatever they were doing. The chosen action was to turn off the breaker to that outlet, turning it back on only on the rare occasions that staff would need it.

On my house, the sole external outlet is powered only when I need it to mow (corded electric) on that side of the house, shut off at all other times. With the lawn now in its summer dormant stage, it won't be needed for several months.

A warning ticket. Once it's a 3rd strike, (they take your license # down in their records) & you get to pick up your Plug-In (or other) car at the impound lot.

And it's not even a Volt. Know your audience.

    How about the opposite problem?

Apparently they were filling up a gas can. Shame on them for not having an EV lawnmower.

Don't understand the Prime was not charging or was not supposedly to park there while charging?

I use ChargePoint stations where I can.

I don't think that's a Prime. It's a Mirai which looks very similar to our Prime.

From the fuzzy photo, it looks like the three charging LEDs are on the dash.

perhaps sun reflection? .... no lights on - not plugged in - just blocking others so they can have a closer parking spot - saving a walk that would have taken an extra 10-15 seconds tops. ergo, the tow-away warning.

Definitely a Prime and it’s parked there but not charging. The sign specifically states it’s for charging.

Yep - note the difference - the Mirai's giant crab mandible holes in front are shaped differently

At least they're not inside buying cigarettes and lottery tickets and a weeks worth of convenience groceries while blocking a pump...

Yeah, this has been going on longer than BEVs have been on the road. The Wawa pumps here have stickers on the pumps asking people not to do it.
