There is a shop listed on the internet in San Francisco, CA area that has battery addition for the Prius Plug-in. The P Plugin is good for about 10 miles of engine free operation under specific conditions. Adding batteries to a normal (not plugin) would seem a waste of $$ and may cause problems.

at first i didnt care but after checking out a liftback to trade my c on, my salesman reminded me i would need to rebadge it again as a Hybrid and put the hubcaps back on. my hotrod c look needed to be toned down in order to trade it in.
it does indeed affect the $$$$$.

With the money you save by not buying extra parts and ruining the resale value of your c you can buy a newer and more powerful plug in hybrid or EV. :)

I am planing to add more 12V battery to system to see if that will help to get higher MPG.

i was wondering about that too, but i think the generator doesnt have enough amps to charge it (an extra 12v battery #2).

it really depends on how you use your vehicle. I often keep my C on when I am waiting in the car and all the 12V accessory will drain down the HV battery.

I think adding more 12V battery will only work when your C is in accessory mode.

when you turn it to drive mode, you need to disconnect the additional 12V pack from being charged by the HV battery.

    the C has 0.87-kWh nickel-metal hydride battery pack. 870Wh. usable Watt/h is about 522W? 20% bottom and 20% top. usable is 60%

I think it will not help getting more MPG unless you have a lot of accessories running and use the additional 12V to power them .
