Please Help Prius 2004 MFD Very Slow

Canadian third gen Prius don't have a maintenance light, I'd suspect that holds true for second gen as well.

 

Pg. 122 of the US owner's manual:
(j) Engine Oil Replacement Reminder Light (for vehicles sold in U.S.A.)
This light reminds you when to replace the engine oil.
This light will come on when the “IG−ON” mode is enabled, and will go off after about a few seconds.
When you drive for about 7200 km (4500 miles) after engine oil replacement, this light illuminates for about 3 seconds and then flashes for about 12 seconds when the hybrid system is in the “IG−ON” mode. If you continue driving without engine oil replacement, and if the driving range exceeds 8000 km (5000 miles), the light will come on after the “IG−ON” mode is enabled. The light will remain on thereafter.
If the light is flashing, we recommend that you replace the engine oil at an early opportunity depending on the driving and road conditions. If the light comes on, replace the oil as soon as possible.
The system must be reset after the engine oil replacement. Reset the system by the following procedure:
1. Press the “POWER” switch to the “OFF” mode with the odometer reading shown. (For details, see “Odometer and two trip meters” on page 115.)
2. Press the “POWER” switch twice to select the “IG−ON” mode while holding down the trip meter reset button. Hold down the button for at least 5 seconds. The odometer indicates “000000” and the light goes off.
If the system fails to reset, the light will remain flashing.

 

It sounds like you have a MFD that's not working properly, just replace with another unit

 

I had a 2004 Prius previously. They had just started using lead free solder. There is a 60 pin connector that is used with the MFD. There is an old thread here about this issue. Pin #60 had a crack in the solder joint on many of these units because they didn't have the new solder figured out perfectly. The connector is only about an inch wide so you need magnification to see the crack in the solder. The crack is in the socket mounted to the board. Mine started actin wonky at mile 116,000 and about 4.5 years old. It was 80,000 miles out of warranty but Toyota fixed in under extended warranty because I was able to show them the crack on my board with 28x magnification and compared that to the pictures I found on this board. The mfd is not difficult to remove and instructions are found on this board. This may be your issue.

That is correct. You will find not find someone able to resolder this connector. I don't have time to do the search for you but it shouldn't be too hard to find. Please try to be kind to those that are trying to help you. It will make others more willing to offer their time.

ok I did the search using the terms 2004 mfd solder. Try it but it may be possible to solder it according to the link above.
