I have a 3rd gen 64Gb iPod and its running 4.x which is the latest version it will run. I also followed all of the instructions above and still have to manually connect to my iPhone which is not hard wired - is that the problem?
How do I use the Bing voice search? I just updated my entunes. Do I just do the command "find next"? Or is there a new command for it? I notice that find next only works for a few major locations but not small mom and pop places. I heard on the new update you can search bing by voice.
I have a problem-for some reason when I bought my PIP out of state a few days ago, they did not include a manual for the HDD audio unit. Were they supposed to? Anyone have a link to an online version? Also does the HDD unit accept multiple discs? My Gen 2 would hold 6 CDs.
Yes. You should be able to get it online at owners.toyota.com but also bug the original dealer to mail it to you. No, only a single disc. Invest in a cheap USB thumb drive and put way more than 6 CDs worth of MP3s on it.
After turning off the data warnings, it still expects me to open the Maps app to show the traffic flow colors on the map. However, I do see the email received notifications without going to email app, so connections seems to work fine without going to the app. Only the traffic info doesn't seem to download unless I visit the app page once. Also, is there any feedback on the "speedlock override kit"? Is it worth it? I feel very frustrated with the buttons greying out. I cant even ask co-passenger to enter anything or check anything.
Sanjath, I installed the Nav Override several weeks ago in my driveway. It works very well. The longest time cost is the disassembly and subsequent reassembly of all the plastic dash pieces. Not hard at all, just takes a warm afternoon or an evening in a warm garage. Search for "NAV override" on Priuschat for instructions and pix. Good luck!
Yes, traffic data won't show up until you launch the traffic app. I suspect this is because they are trying to conserve transferred data as well as battery on your phone? Or alternatively because they are car people and don't really understand technology. Lol.
In my very limited usage, search by bing was even worse than search by apple maps (if that's possible). It couldn't find half the local In N Out locations here. Honestly I can't imagine this being very useful today as the nav-based POI system is still fresh and seems to be much more complete.
I know I'm a little late to the party, but I just recently switched my cellphone plan (AT&T on iPhone 4S) to include Personal Hotspot. I had no trouble setting up my PiP to use my Personal Hotspot connection (wirelessly via Bluetooth) and get all my Entune apps to work without having the Entunes app on my iPhone. Here's a nice little article that explains how to set it up: HOW TO FIX: Toyota Entune 2.0.1 Update breaks Internet Tethering over Bluetooth - Scott Hanselman The one complaint that I have so far is that I need to manually connect to the Internet each time I start the car (whereas my music via Bluetooth will connect automatically). I don't have to do the entire setup again, just push a few buttons, but it would be nice if it would just connect on its own.
it should connect automatically whenever you open an app that requires it, i.e. Pandora or Traffic…
Is there any setting that allows the radio/audio player to be muted while navigation is talking about next turn or some instruction? Right now, if I am not sure about the direction I am just switching off the Audio as I dont want to miss the instructions. I am sure there must be a better way. Please let me know if you are aware.
It's pretty bad. The only thing you can do is set individual volume levels for phone, nav, and ringer. Audio sources do not properly fade in/out, they just go straight one over the other. The worst is when you're on the phone with someone and the nav system tells you the next turn, blaring it out at full volume.
i just got a new Prius Plug-In and in Entune Apps there is a app that shows "charging stations". When I try that app it says I need to register my car. No idea where to register the car? Has anyone seen this? thanks in advance
Only had 6 apps in entune. None of the charging stuff (advanced PiP). After some research, suspected the dealer never registered car. I called the 800 number (800-331-4331), got registered for 3 yrs of safety connect. That got me an ID that I could enter in entune.com. Now I'm registered for all the apps. Had to log out of entune on iPhone, but when I logged in again, all the apps are there. Always an adventure.
In myentune, you should see your car if you added the vehicle/are registered/logged in. There is a settings button. Then you can add a service level contract. Hope that helps.
