    Ā£350 GBP = 444 Euros = $503 USD !

They're just offered in Japan, I think. Maybe they thought folks had a bit more sense, this side of the pond?

They are on the options list on the UK model, the price includes fitting but they replace the stock ones so you're just paying for the colour, not an extra set, a total rip off.

Sterling pounds. A bit more expensive.

Really? That is a rip off. It's an accessory, right? Not an option? So if it's an accessory, why aren't you allowed to keep the original equipment.

Yes, and this was partly why I got my gen 4/4 with the stock 7x15 rims. I put aftermarket 8x17's on it, and was able to keep the stock wheels, suitable for mounting snows (yeah, I know, use steel rims for snow tires, but those look so freakin' blah...). Plus you get vastly bigger selection, better quality for the same cost (assuming you choose wisely), and many more places to purchase from, if you go with aftermarket wheels. Yes, you don't get them covered by the factory warranty and can't finance them as part of the vehicle loan, but 17" rims will almost certainly meet their demise via road hazard or theft - neither fate is covered by the factory warranty. If you add the cost of a stock set of 15" wheels plus the premium for the 'optional' factory 17's on a non-Touring 4, you are miles ahead just getting the stock 15's and then picking up a set of aftermarket wheels and tires.

I also prefer the clean alloy look of the stock 15's sans hubcaps over the factory 17's, with or w/o the 'resin inserts' - but that's just me, and a matter of personal taste.

What MPG are you guys getting with the 17 in wheel/tires?

FYI, the touring 17 wheel weights 22.5 lb with inserts. Each insert is 2.2oz. Without inserts, each wheel is around 22 lb.

That's not an enormous weight reduction, thought it would be more. Every bit helps I guess.

Our third gen 17" are 24~25 lb I think?

Thanks everyone on this thread! I'm a brand new Prius owner and this is such a great discovery. It took me about 45 minutes (taking one wheel off at a time). I love the way it looks. If anyone is hesitant, I'll share my results for inspiration.

I don't like the holes in the rim. I think I would just leave the plastic parts on there, and paint everything black.
When I was shopping for my car, one of the dealers painted the wheel covers all black on several of the Prius.

Decided to leave my two as is. Figured Toyota was smarter than me. It might reduce dirt, water, and stuff piling into the rotor???? Maybe, sometimes, who would ever know.
Also it might give you .000000001 extra MPG.:ROFLMAO:
