Is anyone when using oog mode still running the ice sometimes for lubrication? And if so at what interval

Assume this is DC kWh? 8300 Wh / 62.88 mi = 132 Wh/mi, that seems excellent!

Yes it is dc. This data come from can bus and is given by the nimh ecu.
I was driving using less then 50A as often as possible in order to reduce losses.
If you want AC power add 15% (there are 13% losses in charger and battery).

    For mechanical power substract 10-20%:

This graph show MG2 and IGBT efficiency on Y axis, MG2 power on X axis.
    Left part is regen.

with temparatures dropping again and cell now are at 17 celsius or around that i see the voltage dropping to ( in OOG mode )

after that short drive of about 15 min the cells are close to 28 celsius again.

on my normal route i drop to 219 volts when going up a small hill but now with the lower temparatures i see 214 volts
when the pack is hotter around 30 celsius i see it not go below 218 volts at that same driving route that i take.

i geuss these cells like to stay around 30+ celsius and according to the spec sheet 55 celsius is the max operating
so the gap is not that big.

i have seen close to 50 celsius last summer with 38 celsius outside temparatur.

I think when i start charging during the night a few hours before driving off and use the fan that i have installed on the battery pack for heating instead of cooling this would help a lot.

when i just turn that fan on when the charger is also on the heat from the charger gets pulled and warms up the pack.
lets see how this would work when the winter arives.. intressenting!!

With the temp dropping here and the dame route i can clearly see the voltages dropping now

With temp low as 13 celcius battery voltages noe drop down to 213 when fulltime charged and driving after.

The last time I checked my A123 battery 20ah pouch connections I noticed that the copper tabs had oxidised despite being covered by compressed metal plates, somehow air still gets in between the compressed clamps. I think that maybe this is adding a small amount of internal resistance to the complete battery pack. I have found a product that I wish I had used when putting together my A123 tabless cells battery packs. It is called Noalox Anti-Oxidant Joint Compound. See photo. I found it at this Aussie website : noalox

any pics with the oxidation on the tabs?

i geuss i have to take a look to but this is really terrible planning...

i have to wait a little bit before i can do that

    Hey planitaire

How is your cells temparatures nowadays?

I Am close to 0 celsius
    At 7 today

Cells are just a few celsius above that , car is outside.

The less I saw was yesterday (car was outside all the night): 0°C outside air temp, 5°C lithium and nimh temp.

In summer the internal resistance was 0.045 ohms for the two battery // connected.
It has increased up to 0.12 ohms now, 0.10 ohms after one hour driving in OOG mode.

    And what about temp

I see it go up to 20-26 celsius after a almost depleting drive

Have to check ohms did not look

    Firts real problem

One cell is higher and the voltage increeses really fast. When i am charging.... uploadfromtaptalk1354987417063.jpg

When i stop the charger it drops fast back doen to 3.03 volts...

Also user a multi meter to confirm cellogs is showing correct voltage.

You can try charging at 1 amp. Being so cold where you are you should be charging at the lowest current but no less than 0.9 amps and keeping your A123 cells as warm as possible.
There is no spec sheet for the A123 cells so I cannot say what is a safe temperature to charge and at what value of current. But generally charging a Lifepo4 cell at 0 deg. Celsius Or colder is fatal. That is why Planetaire takes all his A123 cells out of his car in winter and takes them inside where it is warmer and charges them. He also charges them at the lowest possible current but no less than 0.9 amps for the time available before use.
Ideally you want to charge your Lifepo4 cells at 25 deg.Celcius. Maybe you already know all this as we have already covered this in earlier posts.

    Yes

I expected Because planitiare got a new charger and bigger pack he now keeps them inside the car.

When i started charging cells where around 15c

The cell is now stable it seems around 3.286 volts....

I am going to drive im Normal hybride mode for the time being.
