Yay!!, there really is a big difference in between the cells voltages. I guess this A123 pouches are very unequal in quality

Have you noticed that the DOD was 91% ? (17.9/19.6)

And amperage was 41.8A so more then 2C

One minute later the lowest cell voltage was 3.06v, and the hightest 3.2v

i put a amps meter on the litium pack
during the trip the canview ( combined nimh and lithium ) showed a max of somewhere about 100 amps
the amps meter on the litiuhm pack alone showed max 77 amps.

today i used a clamp amps meter on the A123 pack and connnected it to a multi meter on my dahs so i could see the amps drawn from my A123 pack
and compare that during drivingn with the Hall effect oem sensor
when the car is turned of i zerod the amps clamp meter
this is what i see during driving

    A123-OEM
    10 - 13
    30 - 50
    13 - 18
ofcourse these are approximate numbers but its clear that ~25% of the energy during driving comes from the oem and ~75% from the A123.
i was expecting the OEM battery not doing anything and if so not 25% but far less.
anyway its having a easy life ;-)

    Thank you fwd.

But, for example, if using 4 kWh during a trip (what I did with my 4,5 plug-in), that would say 3 kWh from A123 and 1 kWh from nimh.
If using nimh between 235v and 215v I don't think you could use 1 kWh. I think less.

Did you put your multi-meter on the wire with oem hall sensor and compare with canview display ?

    :)

Then you asume the canview amps would be incorrect?
I can use the same amp clamp on the prius wire to see what the canview reports and what the meter tels me

Maybe the nimh did five you 1kwh but some of that us energy from the a123 higher voltages after breaking putting some exstra energy into the oem pack

this is strange i expected that you guys using the cellogs as a logger with the usb that pin 7-8 mod would work
i modded the celllog 8 logger with usb so the power drain would be the same just what i did with my cellogs without logging
but now i can not read out the data! when connected to a pc i get error voltage..
when connected to the batterpack it works and i can log.. but no readout??
i dont want to readout while connected to the pack... i did read something about i blow my usb port when trying to do so?

    Hi Dutch,
Yes, this is normal. With the mod, the CellLog will not take power from the USB. Just set up a small battery to power the CellLog while down loading through the USB. I think 3v across pins 1 and 2 will do it but I have not done it myself.

    Thanks,
    Dan

If Dan21 doesn't have the answer, who else will chip in for the right solution?

i removed the mod already so i can read then out behind the pc.
here is a graph i just made
with a "depleted" pack acceleration until voltages drop below 2,75 and cellogs start to beep. then stop.
did this 9 times in a row.

    several reach ~2,5
you can see some af them stay close others are way of.

As I had stated. I had not done this myself. So today I did some testing. It looks like the small battery needs to be at least 3 cells and 4 wires connected to pins 1,2,3,4 on the CellLog. I did verify that this brings the CellLog to life and I was able to transfer data. But it was a little annoying to have the low pack alarm beeping. If I were to do this all the time I would set up 8each AA size cells in series with a 9 pin connector. I think this would be very simple to do.

I know FWDutchman has undone the mod but he may want to put it back in if he find cronic imbalance later. I did find imbalance with my 80ah cells over a couple of weeks time.

    Thanks,
    Dan
