Maybe you guys should look into getting the PiP added to the list of supported vehicles at www.openvehicles.com .
There are ONLY 43 of us adding our Fuel Fillup data to the MPG Spreadsheet. Sure would be better if more PIP owners would add your data. Also the 43 of us should be adding more often. At least a new fillup every other day. Please add your data for every fillup. MPG Spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AptkktKEhdz9dGF0WWdUZEpqWWdJOGhDWlFsWDBUdGc#gid=10 Thanks,
I'm guessing that a lot of people aren't going to care enough to add their data to the spreadsheet or even bother keeping detailed records of their fillups. Maybe more Prius owners care about the numbers, but you certainly can't expect everyone to participate. I've been keeping my own gas mileage spreadsheet for the vehicles I've owned since 2000 so it's just one more place (also use Fuelly) to throw my data after a fillup. I am averaging 33 days between gas station visits and I won't be getting gas until next week before I have to take a road trip. If I didn't have family that lived 1.5 - 3 hours away it would be months between gas station visits for me. If you want to encourage people to use the spreadsheet, I think that entering data needs to be easier. The spreadsheet has a bunch of sheets, and the way information is added has been changed several times since it was first created. Then there was all the complaining about people sorting and messing up the data (I personally hate the way it's sorted now - it's cool that it's sorted by user but then my 6 entries aren't further sorted by date). So more people might use it if it were a bit easier to use... I believe someone previously mentioned using a form that would automatically add data to the sheet might be an improvement. That's my 2 cents.
i agree with all of the above. but that being said, i don't complain about what i can't help with. i no nothing about speadsheets, but i am able to add my numbers without too much trouble. and ken responds rapidly and moves info or corrects if necessary.
Don't mistake what I wrote as complaining. I was just trying to point out some things that might be responsible for the low participation. If I knew how to do the form thing, I'd volunteer to see what I could come up with, but I do not.
Stacey, I added a tab labeled "Enter Data Here" and other tabs labeled "Add Data into 1st Tab, NOT the MPG Tab". The "Enter Data Here" tab is laid out with the same columns with an example. Any data entered here, will be moved, by me, to the MPG tab. This should make it easier to add data. The "MPG" tab is sorted by Member. However, I wasn't sorting by Date first. It now is sorted by Member, with the member's fillups sorted by Date. I also added "Signage" with >> Please Don't Re-Sort << in a few cells. Hopefully, those visiting the file won't Re-Sort. Since we are limited to Google Doc, I don't see how to Protect the MPG tab without blocking other users, like I would in MS Excel. I also keep my own spreadsheet. I started MPG to share everyones data. It will be useful with participation. Thanks for participating.
it's already useful, and would definately be more interesting with increased participation. thanks ken!
Does the maintenance light come on after 5000 HV miles or Total miles? If someone drove 5000 in EV mode only I don't think the engine would need an oil change. ;-)
total miles. you might want to change it due to age and moisture infiltration. i think the manual says 10,000 now, even though the light comes on at 5. i'm going to change mine once a year anyway. p.s. you're in the wrong thread.
I'll add myself once I get to my first re-fill. I'm on 676 miles with about 55% of the tank still full. I anticipate filling up this weekend as I'm traveling out of town for Turkey day.
I'll need some help with that (not sure where to get all that info). I'm assuming you're referring to the "EV Driving Ratio" menu on the multi-information display? Is there anyway to reset the information or do I just update the new numbers with every fill-up?
Many of us use Trip A and EV1 for daily data and use Trip B and EV2 for Fillup Data. So when you fillup your tank, record Trip B and EV2 info and then reset them. Then use the info when you add your data to the MPG Spreadsheet. Many of us keep an Excel file on our PCs for our info too. Did you buy a Kill A Watt meter? You can get it from Home Depot or Amazon for $15-19. I plug it into the 110 vac outlet and plug the EVSE into it. Then every charge I record the kWh reading, then unplug and plug it back in to reset it for the next charge. When you enter your fillup data, use the sum of the kWh values in the MPG sheet too. Most important, ENJOY driving the PIP !!!
Ah, I got it. It's still a new car so thanks for the tips. I'll buy a Kill A Watt meter for before the next fill up. Hopefully I'll have the proper stats at the next fill-up!
So I am trying an experiment and would like to see if I can get some PiP owners to try it as well. I am entering my kWh in Fuelly as partial fill-ups, converted to gallons of gasoline using 33.7 kWh = 1 gallon. If you are using the kWh from the PiP's dash board, then use 28.7 kWh = 1 gallon to reflect charging losses from the wall to the battery.
