It's interesting that no one knows. It's been 4 years since the PiP was released. Has no one needed a battery replacement? At least that we've heard of.

no, but someone did post the price here, at least once, iirc. but like any price, it was one quote from one dealer.
i suppose with at least an 8/100 warranty, you won't hear of many having to buy one themselves for awhile. and the peeps who are well over 100k don't seem to be having any issues.

Tried getting a hold of them again?

Clearly they aren't going to contact you at this point.

nah, i've given up. i really don't think they want to deal with it, i'm not going to force the issue. i think the important lesson learned is to buy 50% more battery than you think you need.
will definitely do more research on the next one, and hopefully, there will be more options. but i don't think any manufacturer wants to stand behind battery degradation.
it's something they will have to deal with at some point, if they truly want ev's to be the future, and they may not really believe that, except possibly tesla, since it's their only motivation.

Sorry I never reported back to the group on my interaction with Toyota on the topic. But there was not much to report, really. The regional rep I spoke with on the landline said there was nothing unusual in a mileage falloff over time, and that it would have to be severe enough to either throw a code or be really short EV time indicating a battery cell failure to enable a replacement under warranty. I suggested they should have a benchmark to go by - like x miles from full charge at y conditions, but they said there was no such thing.

i think that's how all the ev makers are treating it. no benchmark, no warranty worries.

Maybe not all EV makers, but certanly all PHEV makers.

What EV range are you getting now?

i'm at 11.0 to 11.1, it's been unusually warm for january, average around 35-40f. i think i'm down about 15% overall.

Same here, about 11-12% reduction in 3.5 years, and this, by measuring the charge capacity of the battery by kWh meter (counter) on the line.

it's probably normal, although john1701 says he hasn't lost any.

The acid test IMO is measuring the energy the battery can accept, provided the followings are kept the same: charging temp and start point SOC. Charging time reduction may also serve as a qualitative indicator.
I don't think it is possible to have no reduction at all after 4+ years.

Coming up on 3 years ownership & will turn over 100k miles this weekend. Have noted little to no battery degradation. Normally charge twice daily for 52 mile one-way commute. Any loss has been offset by learning to use EV regeneration wisely & best use of the EV available.

The kool-aid is providing the extra energy his battery has lost. That's why he hasn't noticed it.

What you are describing here is your feeling about the actual EV range you are getting out of 52 miles commute one way, of course learning how to effectively use the kWh available helps in this regard.
However, this does not indicate zero to almost nothing battery degradation.
Did you notice a reduction in charge time?

    It's delicious too!

I have no idea why my observed EV range remains so consistent. Being diligent about cold soaking and living in a northern environment likely had a big influence. There may be something related to my routine cycle of 120v charging at home at 240v at work too.

Not sure, but am very pleased with the 88,000 miles and 70 MPG average so far.

I noticed my typical EV range drops about 20% if the defroster is on in winter and I assume the same loss in summer if the A/c is on. (the pip uses traction battery to power the A/c compressor) Try turning all HVAC controls off if you can.
