Man - today I spent almost two hours in heavy traffic jams (extended road works in my area) - all cars around burning tons of gas, rattling, farting, emitting, heating... and me in my capsule of silence - the time is running in different manner when you drive the Prius

 

I dig my solar roof it does keep the car a little cooler, I want to tint darken the rear windows

 

how it's going now - after almost two weeks? Still dissapointed?

 

I'm less than 3K miles from 200K with the original brake pads on my 05. I'll probably make it to 299,999 before replacing them, too.

 

my 1st post here but been reading with interest. I'm in uk and just put down a deposit on 2007 prius with 38k miles on it. All was good on test drive with the exception of radio which only worked with steering wheel control. Didn't think this was a problem as I test drove a model last year with exactly same issue and just thought it was a setting somewhere in 250 page manual. However I know read this is a fairly common issue, with fixes ranging from new unit (expensive) to tapping the radio facia (DIY) which seems to be a temporary fix. Everything else seems to work. Dealership is phoning me back once they have spoken to Toyota and worked out cost to fix, but I really like the car and may buy it anyway and just ask for some more money off. A bit worrying though. Any thoughts?

 

By "as much as you can", are you saying that I shouldn't use the battery when gliding? On 35 mph roads, assuming no upcoming stops, I accelerate to about 41, "glide" using about 1/2-2/3 of the battery range of the HSI until I get down to 32-35 (depending on if someone's behind me), then repeat. I also have this timed on my commute so that I have 2-4 battery bars left by the time I'm at work/home, which are easily recharged by warm-up and braking at the beginning of the next trip.
