Does the car act different at 99% than 80%? Just wondering because my CAN-View will give me a warning when my Hymotion fakes the SOC greater than 85% SOC and my car does not seem to do anthing different

When my actual SOC is between 60% and 62% the fake SOC is 80%. If the actual sock goes up to 63% then the fake SOC goes to 81% and so on. I have not tested it to see how far it will go yet. It will do something similar when going below 60% actual SOC.

 

ok yes i just updated the latest one today.
but the high soc was already in the version before that
just some minor things in this one.

mmm the manuel soc setting.. i forgot about that.. is that stil working in the latets version?

i think what you are doing is letting the voltage drop a little more?
not sure if that is a smart thing to do.

i think wy the ewerts brothers can do this is because in the final version the battery packs are a lot bigger in KWH than our 3 nmih packs.

higher soc will mean more use off the MG's instead of ICE.
but SOC needs to be adjusted
so when you have 99% soc at low speeds the MG's wil turn the ICE to lose energy
so at that point you need to adjust the soc for you speed to make it the perfect match.
buth at higher speeds the prius will simple use more mg power for propultsion and you can increase that soc to 99%

 

So I'm guessing 80% is the middle ground for low speed and high speed high MPG driving. Low speed will still produce EV only and high speed will produce 100+ MPG.

I wonder if Hymotion can fake a 99% SOC only at high speeds. I wonder what kind of effect it would have on my commute. I have been going into EV mode at start until I hit highway speeds a few miles down the road. When get above 34 MPH I go into S1. I wonder if 99% SOC would help during S1?

Well done Nikki, excellent results. I have been getting 61mpg UK over the last 2795 miles in my regular Prius so you are a good 37% over and above my benchmark. I can stretch to 72 on hot days so on that basis you'll be getting 100mpg. Magic.

I was referring to your coming out of nowhere on these Prius forums and putting on such a magnificent performance of converting to a three pack battery.

i am hitting you.. do you feel it..... got dammed..

did you not use the zivan input loop?

i connected temp sensors to pack 1 and 2 connected to a relay. so if the packs get to hot the charger stops charging.. no need for fan cooling...

but i still have fan cooling in place..............OEM fans connect directly on the packs..

dammm... this is a chame.. ... this is going to take some time again.

what i think is happening is the packs get to hot because ambiant temp is also going up..
i see a 20 celcius to 40 celcius rize on a charge..

so if your ambiant is somewhere 30 celcius ( maybe more because the car is hotter from the sun on it ) you get 50 of 60 celsius on the pack...
i stop the charger when one pack gets to 50celcius and that is done automaticly by the temp sensor and relay connected to the charger.

wow nikki so sorry to hear that!! i also have charging temp issues on my Zenn, but i am lucky in that my pack is so small, that i simply charge for 2 hours, unplug for an hour, and plug back in for another 2 hours. and i am done. a bit of a hassle i know, but my Zenn's charging system sophisitcation predates the stone age so to preserve my battery's longetivity i cant allow my charging system to run unabated.

keep us posted on how your insurance company handles this.

 

a 13 euro relay with temp sensor and its automatic
just like i have it with my zivan charger.

in yout case just use the relay to brake the 110volts ( its rated 250 volts and 10amps or so. )

 

Sorry about your luck. Glad your OK. Hope you get back to PHEV soon. Do you plan on doing anything different next time around? Will you try to do it all your self again or try to buy a kit of some kind?
