When one happens--by chance of birth or development--to "conform," it's not exactly an act of intelligence to mock those who--also by chance--don't. It's amusing to me that so many people find such comfort in assuring themselves that their needs/wants/desires fall on the thick portion of the bell curve. [attachmentid=5566]
Got plenty of time??? Read the links below regarding the History of Homosexuality.. http://www.ifla.org/IV/ifla64/002-138e.htm http://www.sodomylaws.org/sensibilities/introduction.htm "Homosexuality is assuredly no advantage, but it is nothing to be ashamed of, no vice, no degradation, it cannot be classified as an illness; we consider it to be a variation of the sexual function produced by a certain arrest of sexual development. Many highly respectable individuals of ancient and modern times have been homosexuals, several of the greatest men among them (Plato, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, etc.). It is a great injustice to persecute homosexuality as a crime, and cruelty too.... "If [your son] is unhappy, neurotic, torn by conflicts, inhibited in his social life, analysis may bring him harmony, peace of mind, full efficiency whether he remains a homosexual or gets changed...." (reprinted in Jones, 1957, pp. 208-209, from the American Journal of Psychiatry, 1951, 107, 786). http://psychology.ucdavis.edu/rainbow/html...tal_health.html http://sexualities.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/2/1/9 http://psychology.ucdavis.edu/rainbow/html...ry_history.html http://bibleprobe.com/homosexuality.htm http://www.traditionalvalues.org/urban/ Philadelphia schools promote 'gay' agenda http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article....RTICLE_ID=52289 This essay is an outré, madness, a tragic, cruel fantasy, an eruption of inner rage, on how the oppressed desperately dream of being the oppressor. http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/pwh/swift1.html
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(priusguy04 @ Nov 1 2006, 09:38 PM) </div> I'm pretty sure our history goes WAY before any sort of written record.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(priusguy04 @ Nov 1 2006, 08:38 PM) </div> You're quoting a publication from 1951?!?! Gee, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think there have been some developments in the understanding of homosexuality since then. And...ummmm..."whether he remains a homosexual or GETS CHANGED (my emphasis)." I think this is a seriously problematic statement. Gets changed? Is there a pill to magically make your body "want" the other sex instead? You've got to be joking. Do you have any idea what you're asking me to read, or are you just posting these links to prove to us all how well versed you are in this issue? If it's the latter...sorry, but I'm not convinced.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Pinto Girl @ Nov 1 2006, 10:02 PM) </div> Well, Viagra will make it not matter, but it does not last long enough for a meaningful relationship. Seriously - there is no "changing" involved!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Pinto Girl @ Nov 1 2006, 03:06 PM) </div> Which Administration has appointed more homosexual's to positions of power? A.) Clinton/Gore B.) <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(tnthub @ Jun 27 2006, 02:23 PM) </div> This is a bunch of crap and you know it. Being gay is not about where some freak puts his package inside his home at night when no one is looking. If it were, it wouldn't make the rest of us want to puke when we see some flamboyant gay guy strutting his homosexuality. Cost Cutters has one of these and I'm totally not into it. It's not about a guy cutting my hair either. There are straight guys that work there who ain't doing the gay thing that don't make my skin crawl. It's bad enough for the rest of us having to put up with the strutting homo thing, but at least I can stop going to costcutters and avoid the issue. I feel real bad for the guys in the barracks having to put up with this and not being able to get away when it freaks them out.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(EricGo @ Nov 1 2006, 05:42 PM) </div> Yes, I didn't attribute it, thought everybody knew Alice's Restaurant. Suddenly seems as relevant and timeless as ever.
Hmm, here we go again with this crap. All gays have sex in public? All gays sleep around and spread disease? Well, then I guess all str8 people cheat on their spouses, molest their children, get molested by their priests, get beaten by their husband's etc etc- If you are gonna generalize, BRING IT ON! I am a gay man, I have NEVER had sex in a public place, I don't molest children, I am a firm believer in committed relationships, etc etc. You hate seeing gay people "flaunt their gayness"? Hmm, ok so str8 muscular guys hitting eachother and saying "dude" should be ok then? Why is being gay a crime? You interpret the bible says so? And the bible is law? When did this happen? When did 2 CONSENTING adults equal a man having sex with a SHEEP??? Why is it that people assume that being gay is so dirty? Yes, I am sure people can say "I knew this one gay guy and he slept around so much blah blah blah" SO I guess frat parties, high school parties etc that have wild drunken orgies are above promiscous gays? Please! All my str8 friends have slept around then any of my gay friends... ..Oh, and somebody PLEASE tell me that I made a choice to be gay.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(daronspicher @ Nov 1 2006, 09:59 PM) </div> Daron, why so threatened by someone's flamboyance? Oh and didn't they tell you that you had to be gay or at least bi to drive a Prius? It's true, you can look it up on http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Prius So, by selecting a Prius, you are at least, perhaps unconsciously, taking the first stop in your path of self discovery. Good luck with your journey.
Number 3 is a pretty true statment, http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Prius
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Beryl Octet @ Nov 1 2006, 10:30 PM) </div> Lack of denial is taken as honesty on your part and I appreciate that. It really isn't about what goes on in private, it's about seeing much of this nasty lifestyle can be rolled out as the norm to the rest of America. I'm not threatened by ya'll running around being hyper-gay to prove some point because of your own insecurity about your lifestyle choice. It's just revolting to see it. Much like being served a glass of raw sewage in a group and seeing the people around you drink it down. It's hard to watch and I make a point of avoiding the situation whenever I can. I'm not sure you can get the Prius to be the official flagship car of the gay and freaky movement. Seems that Ford is more on your team with something like this than Toyota. Happy flamboyancy! Any chance you get to notify the rest of us that you're heading out into public to be a freak, let us know so we can make a point to not be there to see it.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(daronspicher @ Nov 2 2006, 08:21 AM) </div> Insecurity of my lifestyle? Making a lot of assumptions there, dude. Not gay, just tolerant. I'd much rather see 2 men holding hands or 2 women or whatever in public, then encounter people who are freaked out by someone being hyper-gay cutting hair.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(daronspicher @ Nov 2 2006, 08:21 AM) </div> Are you also revolted by hyper-straightness? You know the kind I'm talking about. Men grabbing their women's asses in public. Straight couples swapping spit or holding hands in the street. That kind of thing. Quite a showy display of their sexuality, don't you think? I'm glad you avoid those situations as much as possible. I'd hate for someone as un-threatened by gay people to have put up with all that non-threatening behavior. If you just go home, pull the covers over your head, stick your fingers in your ears and start saying over & over again "gays don't exist ... gays don't exist ..." You may one day believe that you're actually seeing a straight couple. As a side note, has anyone noticed that the most obvious denouncement of homosexuality almost always center on men? You almost never hear about lesbians. Think most homophobes secretly love the idea of watching two chicks getting it on? Just asking.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(daronspicher @ Nov 2 2006, 10:21 AM) </div> Hell I agree with this. It's one thing to be tolerant, another to not like it. No one can force anyone to "like" the idea or presentation of homosexuality, just like some gay people are probably pretty revolted by straights french kissing in public. I'm tolerant, but I most certainly don't like the idea of it, or even seeing it.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(priusguy04 @ Nov 2 2006, 06:11 AM) </div> I don't know, I saw at least two Prii with W '04 stickers on them back around the '04 election time frame. Must be a Southern Thing.
I agree, but it is /you/ who is ignorant. Consider: 1. The log cabin repubs you so love to mention are pariahs within their own party. Wikipedia: 2. A number of gay repubs hold positions of power and influence, but it was gained by hiding their homosexuality, and maintaining spotless records opposing gay civil rights. We only know they are gay because they were exposed against their wishes by others. Wikipedia: 3. The aformentioned log cabin gay repubs /witheld/ support for the shrub in 2004 SPECIFICALLY because of RNC and the shrubs's push to enact the Federal Marriage Amendment, which specifically sought to bar gays from receiving civil rights afforded heterosexuals in marriage. Again from Wikipedia, in the monograph on the amendment:
It is one thing to admit that you don't like seeing "hyper-gays" in public, but to come on and compare gays to beastiality, or to drinking raw sewage is a whole other issue. Tolerance doesn't mean you have to hold a guys hand, or makeout with your best friend Joe, but just that you accept others for who they are. Just like some person that doesn't like hybrids coming up to you and bashing in your windshield and telling you that he hates seeing these POS cars on the road, why don't you leave it in the garage! I bet you wouldn't like that. EDIT- (Driving a Prius is a CHOICE, yet you would still be hurt or pissed) Gays live in a str8 world, that is why it is a very difficult way of life for most- it is hard to accept oneself, if you don't understand that, then call your parents (if still alive) and tell them that you are gay- see how nervous you would be! Same thing, not all parents see signs their kid is gay, and imagine how hard it is to feel that you can be ok in your own skin. I am not here preaching that every gay man is an angel, and respectful- but don't throw ALL gay's in one group! That was the point of my last post- you wouldn't like it if I assumed all str8 people were the same, would you? What is your issue with gays? Really... Where is it a known truth for all eternity that it is wrong? Hmm? It really only exists in peoples language- just like racism, 2 humans being with eachother seem's wrong because we are told it is! The great thing about opinnions is that everyone has one, and no one should think that there's is actual law, or impose it on other's by telling them they are wrong... I don't think you have any idea how big the gay community REALLY is! We aren't some small minority group- yet how often do you hear of gays killing str8 people for their sexuality, saying it's disgusting??? I am sure that there are people that think str8 sex is gross- but we don't come on here and say you are a pervert, or that you have some mental condition!
