And again just over a week later on Tuesday 22nd August whilst driving in an 80km/hr zone (just turned into the road so wasn't doing that speed yet), again the "check hybrid system" warning came on and car wouldn't move. Luckily there were no cars directly behind me as the car just stopped completely.

    wow, what a saga!

do not know if it's the problem, but might be worth installing a new 12v. all the best!(y)

In April 2019, my Gen 3 Prius with $10K of 2 year old inverter and hybrid transaxle parts and labour courtesy of Toyota, got written off by insurance as a young driver drove into the back of it whilst it was parked.

Due to my love of the Prius and its excellent fuel economy, I replaced my Gen 3 Prius with a 2014 Prius V, which I understand has the same engine and same inverter. The car has now 160,000 kms on the odometer and whilst driving it home one day, it also just stopped and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Never did I think I would experience the same issue as I had with my first Prius with my second Prius.

The car has error codes of P0A94-553 and P0A94-557 which are exactly the same as my first Prius. Other error codes present are:
    P301A
    P308A
    P31AB
    C1259
    C1310
The last two were also on my first Prius.

I am in a completely different position this time and won’t be able to take Toyota to the tribunal. My first Prius had 92K kms and was serviced at Toyota as per the service intervals and it was under 8 years old at the time.

My second Prius is now 10 years old and serviced at my local mechanic instead of the same Toyota dealer. It went to the Toyota dealer just once for a service which I got done at the same time as a recall I had to do. This car has a lot more kilometres than the first Prius at 160K kilometres.

What annoys me the most is these issues are known in these Prius’ and Toyota US cover them in their 20 year unlimited kilometre warranty but Toyota Australia only have a 3 year, 100K km warranty on the car and a 8 year warranty on the HV battery.

I am looking to get the car fixed with a used inverter at a hybrid specialist (which thankfully we have now, which we didn’t back in 2017) and hoping to get it done for under $1K.
Once the car is fixed, I will be selling it and unfortunately due to my poor experience with two Prius, I won’t be buying another Prius. Instead I will get a Nissan Leaf.
