I am sure you will love it - it's a great car. The FAQ sticky thread in this forum has a lot of info for a new user.
What's this 32ºF you speak of? I thought temps like that only happen in the freezer section. LOL OK, so once or twice a year - generally the dead of winter - my route to work takes me through an air-drained canyon. On those days, the temp can get to be below 32ºF. When it does, the car always sends an alert. So reading that particular temperature is hard-wired into at least one sensor. That's a section that I'm always on EV, but my engine has always warmed up plenty before that section - as in a 25 mile drive at freeway speed warmed up. As a result, I don't recall that my ICE has ever kicked back on. So perhaps a cold engine in combination with the freezing temp is necessary for the ICE to kick in.
yes, we're talking about the first combustion of the day, not after it's warmed up. and please stop rubbing it in.
My ICE comes on when the temp drops below 40-ish outside almost immediately or if I have the heater or fan on, and then turns itself off after a mile or so, so I'm never completely EV in colder weather.
That has never happened for me. However it never gets very cold here and the car is always in the garage at night.
