Greetings! What a great discovery this forum is!! So glad I found this. Are there any skins aside from the Black Orange that contain the icon for Satellite Radio?? I tried the other skins and they don't appear for some reason... Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. (y)

Does you OttoNavi/road Rover support sat radio?

I noticed that if your radio does not support an item (like the spectrum display for me) it will not show up on the skins. Even if you added it.

Yes. I purchased the Prius unit with SiriusXM Satellite from OttoNavi. It is indeed a RoadRover unit. and is running shell: 2.89.9. Everything is working as it should and it was easy to install and hook up. The only issue is that The skin that actually shows the SAT icon is only the Black Orange. Any other skin I try to use, the icon is not visible. If I try to add it by long pressing the menu till the edit screen appears, it is not listed in the app list. Its quite strange. I was hoping it would appear in the Metro skin since it looks good with my interior and alot less like Halloween. lol. Any ideas?

    Hello mrmodular,

very interesting story you have here!

Are you saying your XM Satellite is really working with this unit?
If true, then may be you do have a special unit indeed.

The reason why the *other* skins don't have the Sat icon is because they were made way before the Sat option became available in Europe and Asia; there was no such option in America at the time we did those skins.
We could perhaps look at your UI skins and modify the old skins to add the Sat icon using either the RRUITool or RRUI editor.

For now, would it be possible for you to list also the OS and MCU versions you have in this unit?
(Go Home->Apps->Options->System and report the versions numbers)

They have it available for purchase already. It was alittle tricky at first to figure out if it was capable or not. Apparently if your radio has satellite capabilities and the receiver is built-in (like mine was) you need to purchase the Sirius Connect SCC1 which I had to buy from the SiriusXM site. But once I got it it was fairly easy!

I'm at the office right now so I'll need to walk down to the garage. I'll take a look and get back with the OS and MCU. I'll check it on my next cigarette break. Thanks!:)

    Here's the info:
    My shell is actually 2.88.7
I got it confused with my boyfriend's unit - but he has the non-XM version. Hope this helps.

I actually started making an icon for the metro skin but that's as far as I got. I couldn't figure out how to put it inside the skin. lol. But I thought it was a rather good match! I do not know. lol.

    Very nice.
So you have new firmware MCU, new OS and new shell (although there is in fact a newer shell in Europe...)

Should be fairly easy to add the SAT icons to any skin.

Next step: you need to bring the files *.rrui* (the skins) from your unit to your PC via an SD card or USB key.
They should be in \StaticStore\I9\Skins (check the path because you may have a new version...)
(BTW if you haven't done so; make a backup copy of the original sd card first just in case)

Once you have the *.rrui files on the PC, you can edit them using one of the tools.
And then copy the new skins back to the unit.

I can take a look at your rrui files too to make sure they will work (RR may have changed the file version...)

Let us know how it goes.

I do have the files I think for my unit. It came with software for XM and non-XM unit. My boyfriend who has a shell number of 2.89.9 has only the I9 file. I will see if I can find them and upload the link.

I actually did all that part. That's how I was able to get the size and color as close to the metro icons. I used the RRUItool to extract the icons and then modify them on photoshop. The Part that I get confused at is when I open up RRUIeditor to insert it. I get lost. lol. Anyway, I uploaded the skins into my static core already. It was just too bad that they didn't have the SAT icons. lol.

Here is what I have: Download 2012.12.10-Software.rar from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

Let me know if that worked or not. I'm not sure if it worked.

Ah ok; I will look into it.
Getting the new function in may not be obvious. The RRUI Editor is an old version so I'm not sure it can handle the SAT icon. But the RRUITool should be able to...
Give me some time, I'll let you know.

    mrmodular,

It seems you sent us two identical versions of the skins; the only difference between the 2 packages is the config .ini file; the first one has the line "radio_xm= int,1" which obviously will enable XM. May be you should use that one if you want to see the SAT icon showing up.

It's always fun to see that Ottonavi ships their product with the skins people have made here on PriusChat!
But now the problem is they shipped a new unit with skins that were made for the older unit. lol.
(black orange is v5 but the other ones are v4...)

The simplest way to fix this is to use the RRUITool.
What you could do is follow these steps and create a new Metro skin v5 for your unit.
Basically we are going to use BlackOrange as a template skin and override the BlackOrange art with Metro art + your new art for SAT.

    1) Run RRUITool, load BlackOrange skin and extract all the art to a folder
    2) Now load Metro skin and extract all the art (this will overwrite all the previous BlackOrange art)
    3) Now use a FileExplorer window and override 533.png and 535.png with your SAT art
    4) Reload BlackOrange skin
    5) Fill in a new UI name for your new skin (ex: Metro5; this name will appear in your unit)
    6) Fill in a new RRUI filename (ex: metro5) and click on button Save Text and Binary RRUI.
    7) Copy the new RRUI file you just saved in your unit Skins folder

That should do it. Let us know.

Interesting find this evening while playing around in the CECMD shell.

Found that when running an application directly from the CECMD shell that needed to access the open/save file dialog, the file dialog would appear empty, unusable, and unresponsive.

If you first find an execute '\windows\explorer.exe' it will bring up the familiar window taskbar and start menu.
It will also enable all of the dialog content and make the dialog usable when you follow the exact same steps to launch the application in the CECMD shell as you did before.

This will also give you access to the keypad on demand. There is a small pencil icon on the right of taskbar that will enable or hide the popup keyboard. Don't know about everyone, but there have been many timesthat I need to select the folder that was residing behind the popup keyboard.

    Enjoy

Does anyone know if they plan on coming out with a version for the 2012/13 touch screen models?

You should ask Ottonavi; they should know.
I would guess Android is coming your way... Lucky you may be!

Very interesting news coming out from RR Germany!
(Thanks to Jotha for letting me know)

RR apparently has released a new UI Shell version (2.90.2) that supports the Cyberon engine (the Chinese Siri).
    Download here: http://www.china-rns.com/blogs/erebus/140-gui-update-version-2-90-2-fuer-iai-und-iad-serien-14-1-2013-mit-sprachst.html

I haven't tried it yet (not sure if you should either) because it doesn't seem to work that great at this stage. Not even sure it will work on Prius.
There is no documentation; it's still preliminary development I guess.
    But it looks promising!

Basically, with this new shell you get:
    - a Text-to-Speech engine: the unit can speak system messages, (incoming calls?), etc.
    - a Voice Recognizer: you can apparently talk to the unit and navigate through the menus
    - TTS and VR will only work in English and Chinese
    - a new skin Earth: not that great but interesting use of transparency effects (see below)

With this new UI shell, they also add:
    - support for a new language: Korean
    - supports for more engine parameters (if you have that)

Now I need to do some work and update my tools because they add tons of new strings in the lang.dll.
Working on that; will let you know when it's ready.

    Great info.

Last time I modified the skin I added an extra icon to one of the menus. Loaded the new skin. Then I pressed and held the new icon. You can assigned them to anything you want. So I assigned it to the CECMD. :)

Bulle. Cool find on the new shell. Interested to see what it does and if it will work. Gonna try it in the road rover emulator this evening. Let ya know how it goes. The old shell works in the emulator just no navi. Hope this one does too.

This will most likely work in the emulator as my I9.20 does....

BUT ...... Manager.exe lang.dll cbsdktool.dll are reported by Norton to contain a low reputation score which is reported as WS.Reputation.1 notification...

So be very careful if you decide to continue trying these.

interesting that the RAR compressions is not a standard compression format for windows and a few other file servers. Most likely why the virus has gone undetected.

    UPDATE:
Please read the description of the norton report in my post below...

    seckwielen,

you are probably using Norton Antivirus which is known to give false positive on new files.
And besides, those files cannot run in any way on a PC so I don't think they can infect or damage anything...

My latest update to Microsoft Security Essentials reports those files are legit and OK to use.

Please report which Antivirus you are using and any other info you might have.
In the mean time I will ask Strados on China-RNS website to double check.
