I doubt any 3rd gen's will make that milestone, at least not with the original engine.

I made 200k miles and think I could have pushed the same limit;).

Now it is up to @The Critic to push that limit, which his Prius is more than capable of doing(y).

I guess if you drive 40 Kmiles/year, the car has a better chance of outrunning the rust that plagues many high-mileage cars. You can replace lots of parts on a car to keep it going - including, possibly, an engine or traction battery - but rust is a more difficult problem.

I drive (only) 20 Kmiles/year, so I recently declared victory on my 2006 after (only) 269 Kmiles. As sad as I was to say goodbye, there is a certain novelty to saying hello to a new car every now and then.

Depends where you live. My 4 runner has 240,000 miles original exhaust. Tacoma has 249,000 miles original exhaust. My old Camry has over 320,000 miles only part changed was the cat.

WOW! 400Kmiles in 12 years on second battery but original engine, you are talking about Toyota tough. How is the body rust? PA has to be in snow belt.

I totally agree with you if you operate your car in NE. My cars have never lasted more then 15 years due to rust problems.

Same here, even in Southwest Missouri we rarely see rusty cars. And the ones we see are usually people who came from up North. I grew up in a Chicago, where it is common to see cars even just 7-8 years old with rust, so I definitely understand where that concern comes from.
