"Only with a Prius" repair costs

    Hey Erin, this will not affect your situation, but perhaps for the next Prius so inconvenienced. On the 2001-2003 Prius, the HV battery can be completely disconnected by pulling out the orange service plug in the trunk. There is a similar device in the 2004-2005, but I am not familiar with it.

    In other words, simply disconnecting and reconnecting the HV should have not cost this, in terms of money, time, and transfers.

    There is a possibility that they were actually charging the HV battery with the special Toyota charger, in which case one would expect to pay some $$.

    Earlier replies to your message focus on insurance. If I got this point wrong, we will see the corrections pouring in soon.

    Depends on how hard it was pushed in :) They might be able to pop the cover out, but if the stuff behind it is crushed, it would need to be replaced as well.
