I still say... Having a small light donut tire in your Prius trunk does not make a darn bit of difference in your gas mileage! For corn sakes, is 60 MPG not good enuf?! Are we that anal-retentive?

If somebody is concerned about weight in their car, just skip dinner for a week, and lose 10 pounds,! :ROFLMAO:

(Or take all that unnecessary junk outa your trunk...)

Toyota was foolish to not put a spare tire in every Prius.

Me and the little missy are going out for hamburgers. We got a spare, and 61 MPG.

Exactly, wish I had the motivation to pull out all that Styrofoam. Maybe I could buy a pretend spare. You know a big picture of a spare.

They should've included a compact spare in every Prius model.

And the people who don't want it (or those concerned about the measly extra 10 lbs) can simply remove it and store it under their bed. :D

But at least give folks the option in their Touring models and Eco model.

You have switched from they (the Prius engineers) to we (the drivers).

Yes, they had to be that anal-retentive in order to create the MPG these cars can deliver.

No, we don't have to be or remain similarly OCD.
Without a spare, the engineers got one of their vehicle configurations to produce 78 mpg on the CAFE test.

The designers eliminated enough weight already...
    Give us a spare tire!
Ten lousy pounds in the trunk does not make a darn bit of difference in the MPG's. That compact spare is so light, I lifted it with one hand.

Time for a musical interlude to lighten the mood...

You won't have that big ugly heavy spare tire in the trunk of your Four Touring...
...so you might get 89 MPG! ;)

(What's wrong with that nice shiny red Two you have?)

I bought 4 Gen 3 alloy wheels, just picked up new 15 inch tire from Sears, going to get it mounted next week.
Anybody in NC need a Gen 3 wheel for a spare, I have an extra that I will sell cheap.

Where on earth do you go where you can't find a tire repair place within 100 miles? A 700 mile tow is pretty insane.

Well, you aren't more than 100 miles away in any of those cases.

I keep a tire plug kit, pump and pliers in my car. And I replace the tires before they're bald.

... provided you stay on the main highway, with no side trips.

Some of the best places are on side roads.
My 2012 Prius has now suffered TWO flats that were not repairable, requiring tire replacements. I hadn't experienced that many unrepairables on any car since the 1970s.
