Avid outdoors person,..... does my pic to the left look like a city?? lol I dont know what cost is down there but its only 100$ yr up here. Toss a spare in the back if you are that worried about it. Sure are alot of people worried about spares on here, never seen so many posts about it.

How well does that work in rural BC and western AB?

Confirmed that the floor will sit higher for those of us without AWD. I am running a full-sized spare wheel/tire back there.

Instead of modifying the foam, I replaced it with a high density foam that I was hoping would also act as sound absorption. Perhaps it did, but it's still a noisy little car just like all unibody little cars and SUV's made today. At the front of the trunk floor, behind the rear seat, is a cross-member that I mounted a support beam to in order to hold up the removable floor at that end.

Now that I've lived with the full sized spare, and the higher floor, for about a year, it doesn't bother me. I can still fit what I need to back there when the seats are down - which is most of the time.

Well, I do drive through them enough to know how sparse their cellular service can be, which tends to make the CAA / AAA option rather spotty and untimely.

Well, at least before the Pandemic's endless border closure.

Too, when the tow truck guy shows up, it doesn’t really change the variables; you still don’t have a spare, are going to be towed somewhere, with all the expense and hassle, the gooped up tire may be written off, and you need a new goop bottle for a cost that rivals tires.

People seem to so easily forget that during the heart of the pandemic scare - no (NO) roadside service, let alone many times police, were coming to help them if they flatted out. That, alone, should have been a clue to at least have a donut spare in each vehicle.

That the auto makers continue to not put spares in their vehicles suggests that they aren't taking the well-being of their clients health seriously enough. That drivers aren't doing it suggests a worrying lack of awareness.

I do as well, just carry it as cargo in the back. No way I am driving in any remote area without a spare.
