We all agree that Obama haters who are now asking for help from tornado damage are the king hypocrites of the century right?

When your car insurance pays a claim, is that "other people's money"?

Somehow every other developed nation on Earth (even Thatcher's Britain) has some form of universal health insurance. It's not bankrupting them; their citizens live longer than ours do, and none of them ever have to choose between health care, food, and rent, or going uninsured when they're between jobs. The simple fact is that they're doing it better than we are. We should wise up.

True enough, but tax deductions are a subsidy to property owners from everyone else, and I hate using other people's money; you never know when it will run out :_>

That's fine. Definitely eliminate the primary residence tax deduction or at least cap it. As for rental properties, I'm fine either way. Since technically it's a business endeavor, the business should be allowed to deduct it's cost. If the deduction is eliminated, the desire to recoup that revenue loss likely will be passed on to the renter. I guess the question is there a social vested interest to promote businesses, specifically one that creates a renting residence system? Or are property owners just vampires sucking the blood of good renters who would otherwise be better homeowners if the prices were just cheaper?

Agreed. The common theme is bankrupted by a medical bill.

Without universal healthcare the US is just a fancy 3rd world country.
