We were finally able to pick up our wonderful Prius from Mr T's House of Backside Pain, about 3 1/2 weeks after we first dropped it off at our independent mechanic. Following his attempted replacement of our oil pump, problems arose following his repair, necessatating towing it to Me T. They found the timing chain had been installed incorrectly by my independent mechanic. After a through investigation, removing the head and checking that no valves had been bent, it was reassembled and all systems were a go. I had contacted the first mechanic who turned it over to his insurance company (Nationwide) who were very responsive. They paid nearly everything of the $6000 charges documented by good old Mr T. We're very satisfied with how this all turned out. We're out our deductable but beyond that, we're in good shape. I consider us very lucky.

Wow, real lucky there. Even more so that you got that guy's insurance to pay for it.
