It's easy to forget to tighten all of bolts holding everything together in the EGR circuit and intake manifold, also lots of vacuum hoses to reconnect.

It's possible you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Recheck all nuts and bolts, and vacuum hoses for loose fasteners and clamps, and hoses that haven't been reconnected.

I went 80mph on the highway and sounded like the engine was overworking. I’ve triple checked all the hoses and bolts 3 times already. Would it be worth to clean throttle body sensor? I’m also thinking about going back to stock without oil catch can

Does your OCC have a dipstick? The ones I've seen, especially the lower cost ones, don't seal well around the dipstick threads. Have to put an o-ring or thread sealant or teflon tape to make sure that it's air tight.

Also, some of the fittings on the OCC can leak around the threads as well. Put thread sealant or teflon tape there as well.

I went ahead and bought the sealant but the problem hasn’t gone away, if anything the car rides a bit rough and loud
I think I’ll get me a PCV/Air intake hose from the junk yard and go back to stock and test it out
Other than that maybe I’ll take it to the shop to check the muffler/exhaust 1C29E06A-3539-4790-9ECA-69C22AAFA1D4.jpeg 1C29E06A-3539-4790-9ECA-69C22AAFA1D4.jpeg

When I first installed an OCC I neglected to close its drain spigot, noticed a different sound till I fixed that. Maybe a vacuum leak?

I also used the Chevron Techron fuel filter a month ago, idk if that would do anything

It’s likely irrelevant with your can. Just pointing out, an overlooked vacuum hose, or leaky gasket, can make enough of an intake manifold leak to mess things up. It’s downstream of the throttle body.

Ok. Another thing I could have done wrong was resetting the ECU. Last time I tried was I disconnected the POSITIVE terminal instead of the the NEGATIVE terminal. It reset my mileage/etc. do you think that could help? Meaning, removing the negative terminal for about 20 minutes to reset everything

here I read codes and everything passed when I monitored O2 sensors also.

Have you tried running the engine and listening around the engine?
You could also take a long screw driver and touch the plastic to your ear and touch
the blade to different areas. Maybe you can pin point where it is leaking.
From what you are describing, somehing is no connected...

So I went back to stock but nothing. When I had my cat in California I had spark plugs changed and noticed lots of bolts missing so I took windshield wipers and all and put bolts back in (still missing some). After being done with going back to stock no change. Then I remembered about the coolant flush I did and apparently bubbles aren’t supposed to form and it was 30-45 minutes to get the job done from maintenance mode and let the fan cycle a few times.
Coolant reservoir bubbled for about 30-40 minutes and I added a little bit more. Now I drove it and the muffler is still rough.
Maybe I need a my muffler checked out a possibly a new one since I ran with my coolant like that?

I did read here somebody said “well you created a vacuum leak” - I think it was in regards to having the engine on and moving some things here and there

Low coolant or air in the system wouldn't make the noise you say you hear.
I've changed the coolant 3 times in my Prius and have not had any problems with air.
I pour it in very slowly. I think others do it fast. That seems to allow the air to be pushed to
the top and coolant to the bottom, getting rid of air pockets. I've done this for all the different
systems and never had air pockets.

Did you find what area the noise is coming from yet? Randomly trying things is really just fustrating for you.
Did you replace the head gasket? I don't remember what you did. Maybe the exhaust gasket fell down,
    or the bolts aren't tight?

im thinking it’s a old muffler, but today the car seemed to perform less loud than before. I left the battery unplugged all night. 7632C8D8-B6C0-4950-95E5-45B57ACC00A3.jpeg
I poked around the cat and nothing. The ending does run a little rough. Another thing I can think about is filling up the tranmission fluid too much? I think I put 3.75 instead of 3.5qt so I was thinking about draining just a little bit.

the thing is too that I have no codes, everything seems to be working as it should.

this is the engine running on maintenance mode. Sounds like a whomp type of belt sound. I’ll take it to inspect it in some ramps on Wednesday.

I’ll add that I went from the blue gasket to the orange OEM gasket and everything is to torque spec

If you refilled with the car level it’s impossible to overfill; the correct level is at the bottom edge of the fill hole, which is achieved automatically if you fill till it starts coming back out.

If you filled with just the front raised, since the the fill hole is towards back of transaxle, if anything the level would be “slightly” low.

That is what mine sounds like. Sounds normal. Maybe yours was make such a bad
noise before you thought it was normal?
My Prius will be turning 276,000 in the next day or two....
