OEM TIre wear pattern at 56,000 miles

It's not clear if rear caster is even adjustable. Fourth gen is NOT fixed beam like third gen, but who knows. The shop didn't touch rear camber which could mean, any number of things. Not the least of which is that they're not familiar with it, don't know the spec'd range. OTOH, maybe they are in the know, and while there's left vs right variation, they're both within spec.

FWIW, the word "camber" does not appear in the 2016 Owner's Manual. If someone could snag the 4th gen alignment specs and adjustment instructions...

 

If it was in the Uk, I'd suggest speed bumps were the cause of scalloping on the inside edge of the tread, but I don't know if you have them in the US.

They're officially referred to as traffic calming measures. LOL!! Can't say they ever made me feel calmer while driving over them. YMMV, of course.

 

I don't mind the full width ones, those in the picture are tyre shredders, with their varying widths and sharp corners unless you're driving a large truck or a bus.

 

I believe we usually have the full width ones.

After driving in Hong Kong, I often drive as if I'm driving a truck. As long as you're not up against a wreck they'll most often give way to you.

Down 'yer in the far West Country of England there are several rumble stripes attempting to shake the fillings out of your teeth for over 100 yards. Sorry can't find any photos.

 

20K tires at 42 PSI

 

Prius 4 touring 2017 same problem, 70k miles now and 2nd set of tires they check the camber after installation and they said it's good and all perfect but now same exact photo but 2nd set is thicker. Fu"k

 

We have a '16 Prius 4 and the last 2 times we have had the tires rotated at Costco they stated that there was uneven tire wear on the Ecopia Ep422's. The first time we took it to an alignment shop and had the alignment checked and all was within factory specs. The second time we took it to Toyota for the wiring harness recall and had them check the alignment as well. The dealer stated that the alignment was barely within spec and they could see the uneven tire wear themselves with the negative camber on the right rear being 1.7 which is the upper limit. The mechanic suggested that the upper rear control arms need to be replaced at a cost of $642.00 but that it was not a catastrophic need. Even the service adviser stated that the repair cost is nearly the cost of 2 full sets of tires. I decided I would do the work myself and have them align it afterwards. I plan on doing both rears even though the RR is the only one out of spec. Has anyone else with the uneven tire wear replace the rear upper CA's and actually fix the problem?
