Sorry Squall Heart! I see it! Was scrolling back a little to fast and missed it. Credit you! Anyways I did not get a reply back on Friday in regards to the update on the sub box. So as for now we shall wait and see.
They responded to me and said that vent is not associated with the battery at all. The subwoofer does not affect it.
that is complete BS. I've taken the car apart and the intake is where we know it is (under the rear left passenger seat).. blows above the battery, and exits out that exhaust. if they say otherwise.. then my decision of not ordering one is pretty simple if they can't address the concern properly. not part of the battery.. yeah. sure... take apart the car yourself. follow where that vent goes to.. it routes from the right side of the battery. EVO ?
I hope all is well. We are getting back to you with regards to your concerns about our subwoofer enclosure blocking the battery "exhaust" vent. Upon thorough inspection of the vehicle loaned to us for prototyping, we are certain the vent you're referring to is not in anyway associated with the battery. The following pictures shows the different locations of the under the seat battery fan and air vent and the rear vent located by the passenger side tail light. The middle seat belt retractor resides directly behind the vent and as you can clearly see, no additional air ducting is visible or exist to channel air from the batteries. On the other hand, here is the battery air vent as described in the owners manual. I hope this satisfies any of your concerns. Please feel free to contact us of you have any additional questions.
can you please attach what photos they showed you? no idea how far they took apart the vehicle.. but I took mine completely apart 2 years ago and there's ducting from that rear right trunk vent that comes from the traction battery.. so yeah.. it's where the airflow goes from under the left passenger seat so whatever response they gave you.. yeah.. it doesn't satisfy my concerns. EVO ?
They also refused to give me specs on their system, don't know why. I like the fact it's all plug n play but not 100% sure its worth it at $1500.
yeah.. "no additional air ducting is visible" indeed from those photos.. just like they wrote. photos they're showing you vs what I've seen from taking my own car apart.. I'm going with what I've seen in person with my own two eyes. and I guess I'm going to continue to comment about it for anyone who plans on covering up an obvious vent. even if you didn't know what was for in the first place, you shouldn't just cover it. EVO ?
red arrow shows battery exhaust duct going into the right side of the vehicle.. hmm.. that airflow has got to go somewhere.. right? yeah.. out that rear vent. EVO ?
WOW! Very interesting situation. Good looking out to both of you in enlighten us about this situation. I'm still leaning with the theory that the vent has it's purpose to vent the air from the battery pack out up high because as we all remember hot air rises up right? So I'm agreeing with you SqualllHeart.. There needs to be a resolution that will just not block the vent PERIOD. It wouldn't be there for looks only!!! -yO I'm guessing that you work there? Redesign the sub box not to cover the vent or switch sides and put the sub box on the drivers side which means you would have to relocated the light to the vent side. this would take a little work but solve this issue once and for all. My 2 cents worth but I think this is a another option. Please let us know. I never heard back from Daniel on Friday as promised about coming down today so I'm a no go for an installation today as hoped for.Now I'm on the fence and will just wait and see what route to go next.(
Oh no, I'm just a consumer that wants a better sound system. That's what they responded with when I asked about the vent issue.
Why would a battery duct vent into the cabin of a vehicle? I'm not saying I don't believe it, I just don't understand the design.
I see -yO-. Garm, I would guess venting it out side( through the floor or wherever) would have brought in road and outside noise into the cabin maybe? I'm no engineer just trying to figure it out as well. Hopefully between everyone here we will resolve this soon and get some much needed answers. I need my MUSIC!!!
Upgrade your head unit first. Even with stock speakers, the difference is significant. Plus you get more head unit features and stuff to play with. (including EQ, which helps a lot).
it's just to move air in and out for the battery.. it's mostly about having airflow thru the battery to keep it cool. the regular liftback and the Prius V vents from inside the cabin, thru the battery.. and back into the cabin in another place as well. EVO ?
Probably so Squalll.Heart. I just sent Toyota an email to see what they had to say. Want to hear it from the horses mouth before we go on. Daniel from OEM just sent me and email in regards to his team saying this vent has nothing to do with the battery. I want to be 100% sure before I go on. I will keep you all posted.
blah blah.. going back to the statement.. even if the vent isn't for the battery... it's still a vent for something.. and they're still covering it... i could care less if the vent was for your passengers' flatulence to filter back into the trunk.. it's still a vent.. and it's still being blatantly blocked off. will it be a significant danger to the car or the passengers? will the car blow up? probably not.. but as with most vents in a prius is concerned (any prius).. they're there for a reason.. for good reason. i'm not trying to be a party pooper or anything, and hell.. i would love to have my subwoofer installed in that rear right area.. but having the knowledge that I know... it's just not going to be something I'm going to mess with.. and i certainly don't feel any more comfortable with Daniel trying to say otherwise. then fine.. ask him what that vent is for exactly? he probably doesn't know.. sure.. it's just a random vent put there for no good reason.. hell.. even the C1 has it's cheap soft trunk liner have holes cut out for that vent.
