I thought the video number 19 was entertaining.

    1. Says all you need is a 14 mm socket(but later says you need a 17 mm open end)

    2. Oops! (Drops)

    3. Oops! (Drops)

    4. Oops(Wrong lubricant)

    5. Goes on to explain the pitfalls of the procedure AFTER the work is done instead of before.

I don't think I'll be referring to this video when I change my front pads.

I think it's a great video. Similar to most brakes, you need the 14 mm socket to undo the bolt, and often also need a thin open end wrench (17mm in this case) to hold the pin from just turning, since the bolt screws into the head of the pin. Thin because sometimes there is not much room. Sometimes sufficient impact will knock the bolt loose without needing the wrench, as happened in the video. Usually need to hold with a wrench to torque accurately when reassembling.

    NutzAboutBolts is infallible!
But maybe you shouldn’t use a sliding pin lubrication video in place of a brake pad replacement video.

The videos are for reference. And they are not "Professionally" done. EVERYONE makes mistakes!
It doesn't take away from what the video was made to do, to show you his way of doing a certain repair.

You are more than welcome to make your own videos and post them.

I always watch several videos of any repair I want to do that I've not done before.

You're welcome to do so. If you're going to put a video out there giving advice, cautionary information should be presented first, not last. What if I had decided to use this as my how to guide? I might have ended up like this guy.

Only if you're so stupid you didn't watch the entire video first (advisedly TWICE). Apparently you are that stupid? Like that guy?

    Sad!

George, NutzAboutBolts is an AWESOME resource to our community. They’ve made videos about everything Prius, and they’re really, really good. They’re our heroes. They saved me a fortune. (Or they lead me to buy more tools than an Indy pit crew, one or the other...)

They made a video about brake pad replacement, but you were looking at a video about lubricating the sliding pins. Please, view the correct video before working on your Prius.

In the video the back plate of the brake pad came off and fell to the ground (another Oops) AND he removed the brake pad to reinstall it , so technically you could also say it was also video about brakes.

Person "A" cannot blame Person "B" because Person "A" don't not use common sense.
As I stated before, watch more than ONE video! And you will learn from others mistakes!
And also learn some of their tricks and shortcuts. Or, maybe not.

No one is required to put up any videos. They do it to try to help other people.
I'm thankful for NutsAboutBolts' videos. I would have figured out how to clean the EGR system, and
intake manifold on my own. But his videos saved me a LOT of time! And grief! :)

With any type of repair video, they are not responsible for your actions!
Do your own research! Watch several videos and you will learn the good, the bad, and the ugly!

Not these days. Everything is always someone else's fault. :(

    Edit to add:
Blindly following a instruction before you know where they lead isn't terribly bright. I've had teachers give tests that demonstrated that. It's embarrassing.

Another positive vote for @NutzAboutBolts . The guy's soft spoken delivery, humour, thoroughness, attention to detail, and you-can-do-it attitude, he's the Bob Fosse Ross of mechanics. Nobody bats 100, but he's up there. (y)

Batting 100 is pretty easy, but we get the point.
