i just logged on and had an alert. when i clicked on it, it went to an old thread. then i refreshed the page, and 5 new posts showed up.
then i went to new posts and clicked on this thread. i made a post, then went back to new posts and it's still sitting in the same place, not even grayed out, and my post isn't there until i refresh again.

It's hard to buy them and bring them back, 'cause they've already been bought.

I just logged on and it said I had two alerts.
But they’re not under the flag, I had to click on the page link

I’m only getting two new posts under new posts.
    Everything else is from yesterday.
    Is that correct?

Try refreshing the page? On a Windows system the F5 key will do this. In Safari on an iPhone the semi-circle arrow at right corner of the address bar does the same. Some times on my iPhone I've found it necessary to close/restart Safari: double-tap to show open apps, swipe up Safari to close it.

Just thinking, it's been a rocky road for maybe 6 months now, starting with that failure-to-post, that dragged on for months.

Yes, refreshing works, but still leaves oddities.
Reading Danny’s first post, I have to wonder if his offer to turn the site over to Prius chatters might not be sooner than later

Yeah buggy as heck: edits that complete, but if you edit again (too soon?), the first edit is gone, need to go out, drum your fingers, refresh the page.

it’s hard to even explain what’s going on.

With all the little quirks this site is experiencing lately, it still much better than the down time we were experiencing before.

“My Content” is also delayed or something, and refreshing doesn’t seem to help.

To me, this is much worse than uploads.
It’s just a hot mess right now

I need to watch that again. My folks took me to see it when it came out, but I didn't follow much of it.

For what it's worth, I have never, ever (going back way before the migration) been able to trust simply refreshing a "new posts" or "recent posts" page. I've always just assumed that's the way the stuff works.

Notice if you click the "New Posts" link, you will end up on a page with a URL like (this time):

    https://priuschat.com/find-new/591648730/posts

and if you click the plain "New Posts" link again, you end up on another page like that with a different integer in the URL. But if you just refresh the https://priuschat.com/find-new/591648730/posts page you're on, you just get a refreshed list of whatever was new then. So I just always make a point of going straight from the bare Recent Posts or New Posts link.

It's possible this is the way things just work under the hood, and there used to be some JavaScript magic kind of concealing it, for people who browse with JavaScript on. As I don't, I've just always been used to this behavior, and haven't noticed anything different now.

First saw it on a 747 in 73, turbulent time for me.

It was mostly shot on "sound stages". Factoid: the Scott Joplin soundtrack is from an earlier era; the scriptwriter was listening to it, knew this, but thought it seemed to fit.

Maybe the lag used to be a few seconds, a minute at most? And now, as a work-around for the file upload problem, the lag's been bumped, to a much longer time interval??

It'd help if our leader would post more often then every couple of months...

For what I was describing, I'm not sure it was ever a matter of 'lag' at all; pretty sure if I go back to https://priuschat.com/find-new/591648730/posts even now I'll just see what was new at that time. Need to go back to the URL without that integer in it to get an actual new New Posts page.

It's hard for me to think of a story that would connect that lag to any fix for the image uploading. But a lot may come down to the JavaScript code. As I typically browse with that turned off, a lot of these problems escape my notice. "Upload images with JavaScript off" was just what I do anyway, so that issue never slowed me down much, and if "you can't just refresh a New Posts page, you have to get a whole new one" is the way the underlying system works and maybe there was some JavaScript veneer over that to make it seem simpler and that's broken now, that wouldn't be something I'd notice either. But maybe the image upload was fixed by installing a whole updated version of all the JavaScript veneer stuff, and that also brought a change here?

That could explains why I wasn't experiencing the stale posts with "New posts". I don't click on Refresh, I clic again on "New posts". So, working as designed?

Maybe for people who have JavaScript turned on, there was something else that also used to work and doesn't now. Like maybe the JavaScript used to intercept 'refresh' and make it go get a new New Posts page.

i have always clicked on new posts. sometimes they are old, sometimes they are new, sometimes they are mixed.
several refreshes usually bring up new ones, and when i go to a thread and click new posts again, that thread is still on the page i found it on. refresh doesn't make it disappear, but it does gray it out.

Edit a post, save changes, then go back into edit, and chances are good your previous edits are gone. Permanently, unless you just give up and back out.
