"I like this product, but I don't want to buy it because a small fraction of owners really, really like it" What an odd way to live.
The real question is: which of you is going for his wallet first? Congratulations on your Fit. I like the suspension of the Fit Sport. It feels like the Evo IX (which is not light praise). The performance of said suspension was borne out by the fact that the car was able to complete Car and Driver's (I think, at least one of those magazines) lane change test at the highest speed ever, of any car in any class. Fixed that for you. It's the reason I won't ever buy a base level Corvette.
Do people experience these attitudes in real life? The only place I see it is on the Internet. I guess it does exist in real life, though, since people here post about getting comments from strangers. I had one random person make a comment about the Prius in the 14 months of ownership, and that was "Does it really get 50 mpg?". I do not know if it's where I live, or who I associate with, or what.. in my experience people just don't care about what car you drive. And perhaps that's why I find the sentiment expressed by OP and yourself to be so bizarre.
No offense here, but just get over yourself Whatever floats your boat... Why there is chocolate and vanilla.. etc. Drive the car you want to drive...
I know you will still be around but not as often. I will miss you great thoughtful posts. I am going to critical with your decision. I don't agreement with your "all or nothing" approach. Because Lithium PHVs are coming so you decided to stick with a gas-only car for another decade (or 17 years as your old car)? You decided to buy more gasoline rather than spending it on a nicer car? I read your post but I did not get the reason you went with the Fit. I really like the look of the new Fit (much better than last gen). I have not driven one yet though. You ought to change your screen name to "The Gasoline Me" and the signature as well.
i never get any comments or questions either, but i live in an area where there are a lot of them. i do get quite a few tailgaters and people blowing around me and pulling right in front of me. but that may be because i accelerate moderately and drive the speed limit. life's to short, what's your hurry? and to t.e.m., enjoy your new car, to each his own. i do wonder why people are interested in commenting on other people's rides though, i'm not really interested in what non prius enthusiasts have to say but that's just me, i'm not a psychologist, but maybe i need one.
We also opted for a Fit Sport over a second Prius in the family. It was a hard choice, based more on cost and the fact that that car would never be used for more than a in-town - do some errands type of car. My wife loves her Fit. She has the blackberry pearl (its purple) but it fits her well. Enjoy the car, good luck and do keep us posted.
I get comments on the prius. I've had 2 compliments in drive-thru's (getting food for my daughter of course ). I've also had people as questions in parking lots and hey the witnesses who watched the semi back into me asked about my gas milage. Otherwise, I don't talk about cars much anywhere else. Wait, I don't talk about cars here either. :cheer2:
