He did have release notes and he read some of them to me. You can call the main Toyota number (800) 331-4331 and press the prompts for Entune and give them your VIN. They should give you the info.

In Canada we do not have neither Entune nor TT2. And we don't have Japanese either. So what option we have?

Looks like it's Entune, just not branded as such.

We do get E-mail in the radio Thru Bluetooth. Could it be the updates are for this feature.

Toyota has a software download section for Entune updates but for my new Prius 2 shows no 2017 available updates yet.

The statement that "in North America, Toyota uses the Entune system" is incorrect. Here in Canada, Entune is not available except for the Camry. My Prius 2017 does not come with Entune (notwithstanding that the user manual has extensive discussion about using it.).

It's still the Entune system, just with Entune branding and the Entune App Suite removed.

Thanks for sharing this link, but as I’ve written before, I’m afraid that site is no longer a reliable source. For some models and years, it has updates for download, but for others—like the 2016 and 2017 Prius and the 2017 Prius Prime—it now says, incorrectly, that there are “no updates available,” when there most definitely are updates, available at dealers and by subscription to techinfo.toyota.com.

It looks like you have to pay for that site, anywhere to get the updates for free?

I don’t know of a free source to download the update files. If your car meets the requirements of the relevant service bulletin (T-SB-0279-17 for 2016–2017 models or T-SB-0337-17 for 2018 models), and you complain about at least one of the symptoms that should be fixed by an update, any Toyota dealer in the U.S. should install the update at no charge, as long as the car is under warranty.

While we’re on the subject: in service bulletin T-SB-0337-17, “Multimedia System Enhancements (Panasonic),” published December 21, 2017, Toyota writes, “Some customers may complain of the inability to use certain functions of the navigation/infotainment system while the vehicle is in motion. The following software update modifies the system functionality while the vehicle is in motion, improving customer experience.”

The bulletin officially applies only to Panasonic head units in model year 2018 vehicles, but from the part numbers, software versions, and file names, it may be that the updated software might also work with the 2016–2017 head units. I haven’t investigated this, and you proceed at your own risk. For Entune Audio, the latest version is 01014B (13TBDANA-DA10_0075.kwi), and for Entune Premium Audio, the latest version is 010192 (13TDANNA-DA11_0146.kwi).

Note that these bulletins do not apply to the 11.6-inch head units made by Denso used in certain grades of the Prius Prime or 2018 Prius, for which see T-SB-0236-17 Rev1.

I’m actually sitting at the dealership now getting 15,000 mile service and getting the latest software update. The service advisor didn’t want to do the update and said she’d only do it if I was expierening issues. I am having some issues with phone connectivity sparatically so I insisted they do the update. But she said not to update every time one is available unless I’m having issues, cause the new software could cause issues I’m not already having. I don’t think I buy that.

I have the same model, and the website says no updates available but I’m at the dealership and there definitely is one. But they are only doing it because I complained about phone connectivity issues.
