dug in again today with my new ultra low profile screwdriver. made getting out the first one easy but the inlet select motor above is a puzzle.
The harness clips facing away, the lower screw comes out but the upper screw may be buried. There is also a plastic linkage that needs to be depressed to undo it. For a moment I thought I could get at it from above the module that is to the left of all these motors, but I can't see or sense that any screwdriver can reach it.

I believe this is a motor that a tech would take the dash apart for, but I am not giving up yet.

Got it out. It was possible using a screwdriver above the large silver module thing image.jpg

Want o share how I attack these brittle clips. They usually snap if you pry with a screwdriver. I take an old plastic card like a hotel key and jam them in. One or two to give me just enough to unsnap without breaking image.jpg

OK.. the air selector motor is cleaned up and back in. All things considered, it was probably a lot easier going at this part from under the dash than attacking dash disassembly.
I was able to get the motor back in place using the same long but small phillips head screwdriver, but I put some duct tape on the screw and screwdriver so it would stay in place long enough to get me started. I fished the screwdriver with screw attached up under the dash and above the silver module box. Basically attacked it straight on like i took it off. Since I couldn't see the hole for the screw to go in, but knew where it should be, I just poked around until the screw fell in a little deeper and then started tightening. Would have been impossible without the tape.
Noise is gone and the air selector is working as it should.
