Just picked up this guy for $20 at Pep Boys. A few more dollars than the other models, but it allows you to set desired PSI and it will auto shut after that. Also has screw on air hose with metal threading, a detail that I can appreciate. I guess $20 was a good price for in store. Its more expensive on Amazon: Slime 40022 12-Volt Digital Tire Inflator : Amazon.com : Automotive
8"x6"x2.5" just about the same dimensions as the included one, only 2 inches longer. And I couldn't get it to fit in that stock compartment though if thats what your looking for.
I had a blowout last night 60 miles from home in the middle of nowhere going camping. Managed to get AAA tow back to my home dealer. I asked the dealer about a spare and he said they were too expensive to buy from them, but to go to a junk yard and buy any 5 pattern Toyota doughnut tire. I will be looking into that!
Welcome to PC. It's great that the dealer said their price was too expensive for the spare. I'd stick with that place if I had a choice
It's worth the effort for the peace of mind. I recently bought a salvaged donut from a nearby parts recycler, only paid $50 for a striking yellow rimmed donut, put it in a bag and lashed it down on the rear deck. Having it means I'll NEVER get a flat.
Sounds good, but Having trouble visualizing the end result of this procedure. Has anyone done this who could post a picture?
Well I just took off a Rhino Rack that was on top of my car.....you could easily load a spare tire and tool box for long trips.
From eBay: $75 for the wheel/tire, $35 for the jack set, From Amazon: $10 for the tire tote. I keep the set in my garage and only bring it along for long trips. Cheap insurance.
This revived thread was a good reminder I wanted to find a spare for some piece of mind. If anyone else is looking, I ordered here for $55 ($30 + $25 Shipping), they seemed to have some late model ones, mine is coming from a 2013 Prius. Won't let me post a link as I'm not active enough, but it's ranchotoyotatruckparts.
