I haven't had experience with Toyota Roadside Assistance, but I have a feeling that AAA might be faster to respond to deliver the same service.
couldn't agree with you more on prevention. 8 years of driving the regular prius i never used the spare. i would prefer to have one and continue to not use it. thanks for the info, if the compact is the same price, i think i would prefer it just because of size.
In certain circumstances, yes. AAA towing covers up to a certain number of miles, but Toyota Roadside Assistance is to the nearest dealer or the dealer of your choice within 25 miles if you are far away from a tire shop/dealer. You may even do both: Toyota Roadside Assistance to the nearest dealer, then AAA to your tire shop.
So Ironic- I purchased my PIP yesterday- I pick it up tomorrow. Today while driving around in my old car I got a flat! I decided to change it myself... turns out my luck one of the lugs was stuck. Called AAA and they helped me out. This was fine because I put my spare on and I was on my way. It got me thinking that if I did not have a spare I would have been towed to an AAA station where I would have had to wait until Monday until they were open and at the same time I would have needed a ride home and then a ride back to the dealer on Monday. So... This experience had lead me to feel that I need to buy a donut just in case. So my first question is... can I just get a donut form an older prius like this 07 Toyota Prius Hybrid Compact Spare Wheel Tire 125/70/16 Donut 04 05 06 08 09 | eBay Also does my PIP come with a jack? and wrench to change the tire out? Thanks
No spare tire? | Page 9 | PriusChat. I wouldn't go w/a Gen 2 donut spare. You should stick w/a Gen 3 (2010+ liftback model).
It looks like you are on here a lot. Why don't you spend a little less time posting and a little more time reading. I bet most of the answers to all your other post are contained in your manual. (with all due respect)
DO research the archives, all your questions are answered, I personally addressed all your concerns. TY
I am going a little nuts trying to find a spare tire or donut for the prius. Seem I can get one easily from a 2009 but from what I read on these board we should stick to the gen 3. Anyone have any suggestions. I did a search of auto salvage yards and it says a 2009 toyota matrix wheel will work or a 2006 coorolla. I also find a 2005 prius but it says 16 x 4- does that mean 4 bold holes? Anyone?
Look for 2010+ only, 5 holes, correct size is in this thread. Go on Craig's list, look for wrecked 2010 and up. That's how I got mine........... $50.
Use the size specifically mentioned in this thread. Don't trust the wrecking yard's computer, as they might list several that supposedly fit but don't work. The yard I got mine from found this out the hard way and had to eat the shipping cost and price of the first one the computer said would fit. I wound up with a never-used donut from a 2010 Prius. I would suggest trying it on at the yard before leaving just to be sure. That's what I did, rather than waiting to find outdown the road someplace.
Ok, I see people spending a lot of money on a spare, so it made me look around, and it looks like TireRack will have steelies in stock soon (select the 'Steel Wheels' tab), around $56/wheel: With new tires starting around $50, it would be around $100 for a full size spare setup. Granted, it's an ugly setup, but since it is only for temporary use, I couldn't care less. What do you guys think?
Not sure, I personally was planning on just going to my Toyota dealer since they have the Hunter machine to do proper balancing.
Tire rack will mount if you buy the entire setup from them. also remember corolla wheels are same pattern i believe, gotta be lots of them around.
