One of the reasons for using a power wrench is the torque is applied around the lug tangentially even not off centered which is why a wheel turns when using a lug wrench. Pneumatic or electric rattle guns shouldn't cause damage. Improper torquing when remounting is the major concern when using power wrenches. My local Les Schwab always hand torques wheels when mounting with a torque wrench.
