No Hybrids in Showroom?

Get a Touring package, you can get a great discount on them since they arent that popular

 

I found them on the showroom floor on every dealership I visited. Central Jersey.

 

Big part of the problem is the perception and opinions of the Dealer Principal and/or General Managers...

If they don't like Prius and co then they won't put them in the showroom, let alone put one on as a demo...

It's quite disappointing, but neanderthalism continues to rein supreme - at least here in Australia anyway... unless it's V8 and rear wheel drive, people avoid it like the plague... Bunch of numbskulls...

 

David Maus in Lake Mary usually has one in the showroom and had one there when I bought. It is almost always a loaded V though. Lots of V's and IV's on the lot too...and a blue one parked out front with balloons tied to it last week!

 

0.9% is a high interest rate?

I even qualified for 0% for 36 months.

That's about as low as you can get.

As for having hybrids in showrooms... I see them in there all the time. In fact, a local Toyota dealer I went to had a fully loaded Prius with every possible option in the show room.

 

Fortunately the Fit is not a comparable car so the cost difference is not comparable either. The Prius was designed for very low emissions and sized for a small family. A lot of people purchase a Prius for reasons other than fuel savings vs. a compact car. Most are getting out of an SUV, sports car, or luxary car with MPG ratings well below 30mpg so for them, the savings are huge and the reduced emissions and reduced reliance on imported oil are just icing on the cake.

I just wish the Aichi Iron Wroks would market a Yaris-sized car for people that do not need the extra room (or cost.) This would couple the emmissions benefits with the next size smaller people hauler, and probably increase the fuel savings. Then they'd be green enough to make Kermit the Frog look like Cheney....

 

The dealership I purchased mine from has a 2010 Prius I in the showroom... I don't know if that really helps matters, as I always thought the trim level I was good for DETERRING people from buying the Prius. All that's missing is the manual crank up windows and a lack of ANY radio to make it scream CHEAP!

 

Not to split hairs---just curious, but I thought that a "I" was a fleet-only model, which is what AT&T should have given me instead of my level II.
My II is not a luxury-sedan by anybody's definition, but it does have a few amenities, and it's not too over priced at 22-24 kilobucks. It's not a bargain mind you, but at least you have a statistical chance of recouping your initial investment with gasoline at $2.70 per.
I wasn't aware that you could get a I through the dealership.

Yeah, compared to the V's out there....a II would be kind of spartan, but that's also part of the price you pay for being green.
