nitrogen-filled tires

    Let's bust a few more myths.
    First, exactly correct, it's the water vapour that is the troublesome thing you're getting rid of.

    Second, Pearl has pure air from my compressor in her tyres. The water DOES NOT!!! "rot the tyres from the inside". I have NEVER seen any rusting or rotting in there in all my 50+ years of working with cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, etc. The tyres wear out long before this would ever be a problem.

    Third, Pearl's tyres (I'm trying to use the "proper" spelling here as we ARE speaking English) contain air, as I said above. In the last 5 months the pressure HAS NOT dropped and has not had to be adjusted. But wait, it's about to get cold. VERY COLD. The tire pressure will drop. If they contained "pure" nitrogen (which you DON'T get when you get a "nitrogen fill" because the tire already contains air in it when they start to pump in nitrogen, what they didn't use a vacuum pump to remove it?) the tyre pressure would drop about the same amount. Until it gets below freezing, when the water vapour will freeze and drop the pressure a bit more than if it contained O2 and N2 only. But you have to adjust the pressure anyway so who cares!

    But hey, the nice green valve stem caps are pretty, so knock yourself out!

    Ponzi schemes are old too....but more and more scammers are using them, since as P.T. Barnum always used to say...."There's a sucker born every minute!"

    I'm not picking on you, but this sounds backwards to me.
    You're over paying for your air, but under paying for your oil.
    TWENTY dollars for an oil change and a tire rotation for a Prius???
    Either I'm missing something, or you're bringing them the oil and filter and the $20 is just labor.
    I'm very sorry, but I don't agree at all.
    Nitrogenated tires have less moisture not "no moisture."
    Alloy rims do not rust very quickly even if you fill them with salt water.
    I check my tire pressures every other tank....unlike most folks, and I haven't observed enough air loss "through the tire walls" to warrant paying $5 to Nitrogenate a tire....and if there's no pressure loss for airless tires, why are you having to go in without an appointment to have them check the pressures and top off your tires??
    I have a drier on my el-cheapo Sears compressor.
    It's working for me.

    Sorry about the disagreement.
    I have 2 motorcycles, and so I'm a little more sensitive to the 'Great Nitrogen Debate'. Tires are kinda important when you only have two of them. There are dealers that prey on the ignorance and fears of motorcycle riders with this crap, and it pisses me off.
    Vehicles are expensive enough to put on the road without some low octane type sucking even more money out of people's back pockets with fuel-saving spark plugs, "tornado" air intakes, or super nitrogenated tires.
    The best things I can think of to say about it is that, if they really put Nitrogen in your tires, it will not hurt anything, and they usually only rip you off for about $5-10.
