You're assuming the captcha actually loads correctly and doesn't hang up during the submission.

I get frustrated when I can't submit an order transaction or a help request because the captcha never rendered or loaded. Especially because it's rarely obvious that a missing captcha was the problem.

Admittedly they sometimes get caught up in my adblockers and scriptbusters, but the modern web requires those too.

    @2k1Toaster wins this round hands-down.

I gotta jump in here and say something that I think a lot of us already know and feel. I have been a member here 5 years. The reason I originally joined was because this site had so many people with really good information. You want to trick out your ride, its here. You want to discuss the details of how the prius HV battery works, there are people here who got it down. It was always safe to visit Priuschat, ask a question and the response was usually insightful. Within the last 2 years, this changed. Asking a question puts you at risk of being verbally bullied and insulted. A simple question asked 5 years ago is now labled as moronic, idiotic, stupid, etc. Then, your question gets ripped to shreads as to how one would even ask it in the first place. What has changed? What gives? Most of us here don't have the tools, knowledge to defend ourselves. That's why we ask. This site is slowly turning into ask if you are only knowledgeable, which, defeats the whole purpose.

As a result, when I have a question, I have resorted to private messaging those I feel comfortable with. But by doing this, the audience who visits our site don't get to see my questions, which again, defeats the whole purpose of this site. I totally like discussions, disagreements and the like. Insulting a person's character is where I draw the line. Don't ask me for who said what and when. We all know what I am talking about. Am I guilty of this? Of course! After being on the defensive, I too have engage with insulting a profession, but, I cannot think of a time when I intentionally denegraded an individual here in Priuschat.

All I can say is that Priuschat needs to go back to what I thought it was (unless I was deluded). A place where people can chat about the Prius!

    Your friend in the system!

I agree 100% there is some redundancy there for sure thats confusing. I like the capcha ebay uses very simple slide the square into the box.

I would have included on there site alot of video's of the battery installation too. Its pretty technical and somewhat dangerous to assemble if you don't have some good electronics chops. A video of certain stages would really help. A little training.

I see people on here that don't know much about it thinking how hard can it be? You not respecting that assembly for one. There's alot of power there.

Make them youtubes. If you have youtubes from the factory of NPB then it would help any future liability if someone got hurt/shocked etc. That's going to happen.

Its hard to be everything in your business. Pretty soon your business is running you. He's trying something that is very very rare and thats being a really talented engineer and a really good business man. That's a tough and rare combo in what I have seen in my long engineering life. On top of the Covid nightmare.

Anyway its a timely business he should do well I hope he does very well. I hope this bullshit anti-chinese sentiment doesn't kill his stock
    availability.

He has been a man of his word to me. I have no complaints really. I will start on my battery this weekend.

Well he has been in business over 2 years and has a warranty claim rate of 0%. You cannot get any better than that when we asked Green Bean for comparable numbers they fled the forum.

Sounds good and I love the fact that he is making a competitive market, so thank you for that, but I am to chicken to buy something that you can’t get parts for it if needed in the future, like the harness or a single module, so if single parts for his kit are available that will be a piece of mind to know you don’t have to be out of another $1600 anytime soon after 2 years, if a single part fail after his warranty.

I know Toyota doesn’t offer more than 1 year warranty but Toyota Battery pack is a well known battery that we certainly know how long it lasts.

Their warranty is 2 years if you install it and 3 years if a dealer installs it. I am sure @2k1Toaster would offer parts if needed.

Why to risk loosing business from prospects buyers like me just by staying silent if he has parts available just let everybody know.

1 year if you install your brand new battery from Toyota. 3 years if the stealership does it. But even if the dealer does it, brand new Toyota battery has 0 hours warranty if you are a fleet vehicle like a taxi or uber or lyft, etc.

We sell everything separately, but it is really of no use to anyone... But we have our batteries in some very weird places that required bits and pieces of kit. Hybrid locomotives was one of the weirdest, solar/UPS installations are more common.

Started my NPB install today. Whats has always had me worried is getting that battery in and out of the trunk.

Anyone who could help me is as old and beat up as me many with same surgery L5/S1 I have had so had to come up with a way to get the battery out. I have a contractor who could help me but with Covid its difficult to get people over here. I woulds rather not interface with anyone right now in Florida still seeing alot of idiots with no mask. Tampa has been pretty good have not seen anyone without a mask in a store there the county has a law now.

I built me a little wooden ski lift lol! Hopefully I can now slide the battery out on these 2x4 skids I built in the tire well. Going to pull it up the skids with a rope on both sides of the battery.
Its not too heavy when your just sliding it I hope.

Battery is not crazy heavy but I am unable to do a dead lift on it out of the trunk. Every edge on it s wicked sharp too. See how this works tomorrow.

PS The black stuff in the trunk is peel & stick sound proofing I added years ago.

Selling my old school Prolong system too with the light bulb discharger. Works great.

Well not much luck here at my house with the new NPB battery install.

After I put the battery together and it was not installed yet i installed its safety plug and measured 214 volts at the battery side of the relay. Seemed pretty low to me but I figured it was enough to start the engine.I measured all the cells they were all pretty close. 15.5 I think?

After install the engine starts up I see battery charging arrow to the battery and the battery screen monitor is empty no purple no red
no nothing then about 15 seconds later it throws the RTOD and shuts the engine off. I know that battery energy is empty because the software is confused.

It also said at the beginning along the top of the mfd PROBLEM OUT OF FUEL.

    Its pulling a P3190 and P3192.

Car has been parked on an incline for about 5 days with its 12 volts unplugged. 12 is solid I got 12.5 at the FJP.
    Car starts right up.

OK because of the incline and the 12 disconnected I figured ok fuel gauge is whacked out wife said it had 3 pips when parked but went and got 5 gallons of gas put that in and did a fuel gauge recal the gauge now shows full. But same thing ruins for about 15 seonds then RTOD then I see PROBLEM on the mfd with the car icon on the mfd..

    Bummer.

My hardship is my Techstream VXDIAG when I hooked it up now says software expired I will call them tomorrow so had to fall back to my ScanGauge Xgauge and its pulling the P3190 and P3192. There may be a battery code its not seeing. Jesus hope not.

Not an easy install in this heat. Not NPB's issue there set up is very cool went together really well. Just the heat and trying to figure out that battery case end where the black plastic air pipes go with the little bracket on the end of the case that busted my nice person till I figured it out.
Did not pay enough attention to that part when I pulled it apart.

Hope I don't have to pull that battery back out.

Tomorrow I will see If I can get my VXDIAG updated and pull some more codes. I was concerned about that 214 volts if i keep starting it I may kill that battery.

I double checked all my connections and there tightness. The ground strap on the output side of the relay is correct the little pointing tabs contact the cables and the open end of the strap faces the back of the car and is tight wirth it cover on.

the safety switch is in tight and the lever is down and clicked.

If everything was running before the installation I will assume should be something with the installation itself, hopefully you can figure it out and be out this frustrating experience sooner than later.

    Hi Ed,
I know you are familiar with the Prius batteries. Please do not take offence at any of my comments. Some of my suggestions may be way off the mark but at this point you have to look at everything.

214 volts is more than enough to start the car. Are you sure the positive and negative ends of the battery are in the proper orientation? I don't know or want to find out what happens if they are backwards.

Back to the basics! Are you sure the engine is running and not just being spun by the motors? Check the tailpipe for heat and burnt fuel smell. You could try clearing the codes and a shot of starting fluid.

The 3190 is poor engine power. The 3192 is not listed in my 2004 Prius shop manual. I could not find any reference for it. I really wonder if the gas engine is running.

Have you completely reassembled the car? The battery case needs to be grounded to the body. At least one mounting bolt should be installed.

    Thanks for weighing in Straw.

I figured it out the battery blower motor plug was not pushed in all the way. I had to remove the Prolong hardwired blower supply to that and restore the wiring to factory.
In my haste did not push it in till it clicked. Christ. My attention was the battery box.

I laid awake last night going over it all and thought did I hear a click on that plug? lol...

And your right the engine was never running. I have never heard it spun up like that for any length of time before it sure sounds like its running only much quieter and smoother. But when i turned the car on after it was fixed and big difference the engine is loud.

My go to VXDIAG software all of a sudden says software expired so never was able to get my techstream up and running so had to use my old Scan gauge upgraded to hybrid Xgauge to pull and clear codes. It pulled a P3190 and a P3192 that was not listed as a viable code in my prius manual but google said poor engine power. Yeah poor engine power because the engine was not running.
That's the first time my car ever threw a hybrid code so never able to test the Xgauge but its worthless for any hybrid codes.

The second I pushed the blower ecu plug in it then fired right up and charged to 3 bars.
If I had my tech stream running it would have immediately identified that blower plug. I had no idea my VXDIAG was not working. Like I always tell posters you really need techstream if your dealing with the battery. If mine was working it would have fixed this stupidity immediately.

Its a pretty nice battery set up 2K designed really hard to mess it up. Very well engineered system all the bolt holes lined up including the bottom bolts. I like the covers. Very easy to install. I cannot imagine the time it took to design these battery's to the precision they are. The fitment is perfect.
In the picture those white plastic collars in the center of the battery have interlocking holes and studs.
I appreciated all the holes lined up properly very much. Its a sign of good design and quality.

The metal battery box is another story for a first timer that passenger side with the little metal plate on the passenger end sandwiched in between the case and the case cover and the blower plastic vents... Yikes... that killed me. On the dismantle i tore that apart thinking cant be that hard to put back together lol...
Next day I'm throwing tools around and cursing......

Freaking heat down here doesn't help. 90 and 80% humidity. Within 3 mins your shirt is soaked.

I was surprised my 150,000 mile battery was not corroded to bad. Thought it would be much more rotten than that. Its garaged. Included a pic of the rot. Just a little corrosion around the outside of the nuts. All the ecu plugs were very clean including the ecu pcb itself. I took the cover off and checked. Caps tested ok too. The sensor wires were clean too. Lucky.
They get you a little scared about moving the thermal sensor wires around as they fail so easily so after installing them on the battery's I front probed the sensor plug with 2 sewing needles (dvm probes wont fit in the tiny plug holes) and checked all 4 of the sensors to see if any of there wires were open. All 4 measured 9K ohms.

I will start driving it today see how it goes. I know it takes a few days for the software to catch up to the battery. Hopefully it behaves itself.

    Thank you for the help!!
