the VA troopers and Fairfax county police wil pull you over for dark tint up here. I had the front windows on my HHR dark, and only got "hassled" a few times. but my wife got pulled over in my 94 impala SS and I had to remove the front window tint to get out of a ticket. if I went 35% all the way around I think it would draw undo attention. and I hate the way the two tone (50% front 35% rear) looks so I'd probably go 50% all the way around and just suck it up...
I get pulled over every now and then but I know CHP, Sheriffs and local police so they just sign it off. I didn't do the front window at all, it would make it too dark. It is already hard backing in at night.
I bought my new 2013 Prius 4 on January 4th, the Saturday before the big freeze. Don't even think for a minute I took her out in the cold, she was nice and warm in the garage! So, I've only driven the car really 3 days. Just joined today and am enjoying all the posts. Sounds like my dealer did a pretty good job setting me up, although I am learning a great deal through all the posts. I did have to say that I am in the process of reading my manual(s) and marking the places I may need to reference again. There is a lot to learn as I suspect it is a new way of driving and car ownership. At the end of the first day I was in love! She's a dream, drives smooth and steady, and is quiet. Looking forward to reading what everyone else has going on!
I have a prius c1. I've had it for almost a year now. Just shy of 15k miles on it. So far I've changed some lights to led, installed a kenwood touchscreen head unit and installed speakers in the rear doors. This is just the beginning!
Hello. Newbie here. I bought my 2013-PIP in Mar '13 and received it in Jul. Still going well at -35C (Ottawa, Canada). Here's a pic from July. Michael.
Just wanted to say hello from Michigan. We replaced my wife's Volvo S40 back in July with a 2005 Salsa Red Prius. It has xenons, fogs, smart key and 6 disc changer, but otherwise is a standard base car. We bought it because at the time I was driving a company car gen III and loved it for the efficiency and cabin room (we have 2 kids), and my wife had just gotten a new job with a 55 mile one way commute. So far it's been great- I've replaced the front brakes, front struts, spark plugs, water pump and thermostat and did a coolant flush with SLLC. The inverter flush was done not too long ago by the dealer as part of the CHR pump recall. My wife misses the cute factor and super comfy heated seats in the S40, but loves the room and obviously the fuel economy of the prius. Plus I daily drive a Volvo V70 that pulls double duty as our weekend trip-mobile and camper tow rig, so she gets her fill of heated Swedish leather then. Prius chat has already been a great help to me as I've learned about the car and done the pm work that I have so far, and I'm sure it will be into the future...thanks! The day we brought her home (and a goofy 5 year old) And today in our polar vortex induced great white north of Southeast Michigan
*waves hello* Just traded in my 2006 BMW 325XI (which I loved!) for a 2006 Prius. I've been looking for work since Oct last year and was lucky enough to get a really good job offer last week. The challenge is it's going to be a 60 mile commute one way. I've worked for the company before so the commute is familiar. Back then I had a Jetta TDI. I couldn't imagine putting my BMW through this new commute given she had 117,000 miles and would be costing me a fortune in repairs/maintenance/gas. Here's my new-to-me baby; "Heisenberg" is his name. He has 97,800 miles and is a one owner car with all service records. I paid $11,000 for it. Cash deal; no financing for me. My goal is to be debt free as much as possible. Looking forward to learning a lot in this wonderful forum!.
Thank you so much! Since I don't start my new job until Feb 17th, I decided to take my new-to-me Prius for a little road trip. Heading from Seattle to Los Angeles this coming Wednesday. I need to feel totally confident in this vehicle and a road trip seems like a good way to do that.
Hey, only I get to call "Prius Envy" when I see it! Tramp, did you install those side marker lights on your fenders and that black plastic trim? I totally dig the lights!!
The Gen2 EU & JDM Priis come with the fender side markers. The US got the stripped down version. VS980 4G ?
