Forgive me for the silly question - but the 2012 Prius 4 & 5s I've seen have the fog lights in the grill... What am I looking at here?
In the grille? Do you mean the lower bumper? (the round lamps under the indicators/turn signals?) Those are fogs. They're available in lower trims in other countries but only available with the Five in the US. Those of us who have fogs in lower trims have added them on on our own.
Recent owner of 2010 Prius III as of 3 weeks ago. First mod was removing the plastic wheel caps to show the clean stock alloy wheels. Second mod was tinting the front to match the back. Third was the now infamous Lowes electrical box knockouts to cover the center of the exposed alloy wheels. I sprayed them with silver metallic rustoleum. Oh...also signed up for a Fuelly account so I can track my mileage!
On our 2012 Prius III there are DRL LEDs under the turn indicators you are referring to here... And they are all One piece.. not blanked under the indicators as must have been the case with those that added (modded) fog lamp whereever you are. Take a look at this DIY and you will see what I am talking about - the 2012 Prius 5 comes with fogs (Standard) in this configuration (see write-up) where as you have done more simply, those of us in the states must purchase a new grill and (by this write up) purchase the correct set of fog lamps for a Yaris (identical fit - low price - complete with harness) DIY: DIY: How to add aftermarket OEM-style fog lights to a 2012 3rd gen Toyota Prius Two, Three or Four (non-Five models); complete retrofit installation guide with wiring diagram | Balancing Act: A Sojourner's Thoughts
lol. I didn't notice you have a 2012 (that also explains why you said grille [grille is the top part, the lower part is called the lower air dam] for future reference). 2010 & 2011 models have the foglights where you have your DRLs and they were grey plastic blanks unless you had the V/Five (or Touring Package here in Canada) so those of us who have the II/III/IV or Two, Three, Four models would add the foglights on our own from the PC Shop so it would look like the black Prius above.
Actually I've only owned the 2012 Prius since 10/27 so I called it a grille - because the DIY parts list from Toyota labeled it so as seen here - 53102-47020 - OEM Toyota GRILLE SUB-ASSY, RAD. I am assuming the difference to merely be the slight difference in language between here and Canada.. No worries. we now know the difference.
Hello! We just took the plunge, and here's our '12 V3 before driving it home for the first time. Love it so far; we've got an older Prius (a work car) but this new one replaced the family car.
I'm in love, added a few mods a few weeks after I brought it. Xenon supply 6k HID, got the wheel cover removed and added OEM wheel caps.
Thanks!! It is Clearwater blue. it's a 2012. so many crazy features. I think I need to take a class!!
Awesome Tami!! And btw, I'd NEVER judge you on your very clean garage (at least you can see your floor!!). Your garage is at least, on a minimum 4000% more organized than mine...lol. Anyways, congrats on the new PIP
LOL! I'm not allowed to have a disorganized garage. In fact, nothing is supposed to be on the floor or I get in trouble.
Dude. I showed Marisa the picture and her jaw dropped. I think she was ready to kick me out. LOL It looks fine to me.
