Woke up this morning to a strange scene. My month old Southern California Prius tried to change colors last night. A closer view: I think I better buy chains sooner rather than later...
The snow was about a week early - we often get our first snow around the US Thanksgiving. It doesn't last long, melts right away and won't snow again for a month. That's what I like about the Southern California type of snow - it rarely wears out its welcome. Most of the time it'll snow, look pretty for a couple of days and then disappear for another week or two. The other nice thing about the snow in SoCal - if I want to warm up for a couple of hours, I just have to drive an hour or so where I'll find sweater weather instead of parka weather.
Careful planning, and inventory control. I typically carry one centrifuge, three sets, and a large white cooler from SAMs, The biggest one they have, a12*12.5*12" filing cabinet, smaller paper cabinet, several plastic office max bins with supplies. Stuff I use rarely gets stored under rear floor. I will be making a removable cabinet with slide out shelves for centrifuge and a arthroscopy pump, with built in cooler. Still, I'm able to keep things low enough To see out of back window. I fold both back seats down, no cargo cover, I've added weathertec floor mats, a center console cover, and front seat covers to date. Works well, still avg. 50+ mpg.
You must be super confident to put that dark of tint on your windows and live in So Cal! I'm scared to even get the lightest color offered
What's happening everyone? First of all - thanks to all at Priuschat.com for your contributions to the forums. This website was instrumental for my research regarding whether or not I should buy a Prius. I don't have a lot of money and I refuse to use credit on this sort of thing, so having saved and taken significant care in my personal finances since late August - in early November I'm rewarded with a 1998 NHW10 Prius. The car drives really well, and I paid a very good price for it. Less than my Nissan Bluebird 1997. If you start from the bottom of my photo stream you can see that it came with some pretty bland looking rims, I have used spare money to put some different ones on there. Because I'm such a new member the forum won't let me place a link to my pictures, but I'm sure you can work out the URL from this: flickr.com/photos/63211601@N07/tags/prius/
i was a little hesitant, but i love the way it looks. it actually looks much darker in the picture because it was a gloomy day.
I live in the Ontario/Chino/Chino Hills since the 80's. I have had my windows tinted in all my cars since I got my license way back in 85 or so. Can you get tickets? Yes, but that is the chance you take when you do this type of mod. LOL.............left the dealership around 12:30a (closed the place down) and was sitting in the tint shop parking lot at 6:45a. This has been the same guy that has tinted my windows since High School. I believe he is the best in the Inland Empire. Back when I was younger, the darker the better. I soon realized that it sure gets harder to see out of, now I don't go pass dark. Other then the looks, I used to drive a lot and hated the fact that I would burn my fore arm sitting on the window sill. To each their own, but I understand the fear of getting a ticket. The last time I got one it was a fee on the ticket and the cost of a re-tint. Not a problem since the wife like to let the seat belt fly and the buckle nicks the tint. Take car all! To tint or not to tint? Only you can decide
2007 Prius (bought almost 2 wks ago) Base Model Tint added last week (Looks a little darker than they actually are) New radio; USB/iPod capable, CD player + wiring for bluetooth and steering controls arrive in 2 days. (Took advantage of Black Friday lol)
Feeling privileged to join the Prii and glad to find this forum for info. I have to use my own car to make service calls and I've been wanting to buy one of these awesome vehicles for years. The desert heat out here in Yuma, Arizona kills regular car batteries after 3 years normally. The Ford Focus we traded in was going to need another alternator as well. My biggest wish right now is for the tax cut fairy to magically appear and build me a solar celled carport and subsidize a plug-in kit upgrade.
