it's "already" been nearly a week since my wife, daughter and i made the trip to Indianapolis to pick up our new Prius ... pictures have already been posted on the "Waiting List" thread, but this seems like the place to make our Prius ownership official .... QUITE luckily we believe, we got a) our preferred package -- #3 ... b) our second choice of color -- we had been HOPING to get the Seaside Pearl ... and c) did NOT pay more than MSRP!!! at the risk of further conveying my love of all things "Tolkien" ... Son of Gloin officially introduces "Mithril" ... along with his MUCH older "sister", "Stone White" ....
Too bad you couldn't get Seaside Pearl, that's what I have and I luuuuuv it. Though the CSM is still pretty cool, hides dirt very well. OT: Son of Gloin: You live in the birthplace of W. Axl Rose, (and Izzy) awesome!
Picked up this morning, pictures taken at work in very bright sunlight using a cellphone camera, thus all the lens flare. Woot!

OK, finally have my pics to post, so here they are. My mods so far: custom 2-tone premium Katzkin heated seats, 3M Invisible Bra, OEM splashguards, trim rings removed, Michelin Radius frameless wipers on the front, Fumoto Quik Drain Oil plug and soon a Proclip mount for my GPS next to the MFD. The back plate frame is a temporary while my zinc alloy is on order. The last pic is my soon to be 1 year old son. The red vette in the background is his, but he gets to cut his teeth on the Step 2 Blue Buggy for now! His mods so far, sunshade and cupholder. He likes to cruise the neighborhood and honk at the ladies. (Don't know where he gets it.)
That's Katzkin's premium leather, installation was done by Pickups Plus in OH for $1400 complete (includes seat heaters, the buttons are not quite visible as I had them placed on the center console "bump" midway up from the floor and the dash). The owner of Pickups Plus is also my next door neighbor, so I got a bit of a discount. I could have opted for the standard dealership leather which is the normal grade of Katzkin and got it done for $800 installed without the seat heaters. This would have saved me $200-400 dollars, maybe a bit more, over the dealership depending on heaters or not, etc. I know prices vary by installer and he may have been a bit higher even than some others (even with his discount), but I know what kind of work he does since all his toys are parked next door to mine. It was worth it to me to have someone I trust do the work and stand behind it. Hope this helps.
Love those mods. The seats look great! I'm curious about the wipers - was it just for looks - or do they improve the visibility, etc. Can you provide more information, pic? Also, when you get that mount for the GPS please post pic. I have a garmin C550 which is mounted next to the MFD via a portable mount. I don't really care of the looks. There's a pic here somewhere.... but I opted for that as I can remove the whole thing and no one knows a GPS is in the back in the secret storage space in the rear. With your new mount, won't people see it and possibly break in just to see if they can find the GPS?
Thanks for the comments. I did the wipers because I like frameless wipers. I got turned on to them when we got my wife's Mercedes and had no experience prior. Once I saw how smooth and quiet the frameless operated I was sold and ran out and bought the Bosch Icon frameless for my car. This is the first time I have tried the Michelins, but they were cheaper than the Icon so I thought I would give 'em a shot. So far I really like them, but we have not had enough rain to really give you a fair comparison to the Icons. I have heard some folks did not like them, but time will tell. As far as performance, they do seem to work better at speed and in heavy rain, at least for me. Now to the mount, I like my gadgets like most guys, but I like clean installs on the cars. The Proclip is very expensive for what it is, but once you remove the logo stickers - it looks nice and clean. I installed it today at the office and will post a pic later this weekend (showing the model A at a show tonight and home late). I too have concerns for theft, but the mount is all black which blends nicely with the dash and since my GPS has a bracket that it clips in and the bracket itself is removable, both pieces are removed to avoid the obvious tell-tale sign of a GPS. The Proclip piece stays, but unless you're really looking it is easy to miss. To be fair though, I have all my vehicles securely garaged and when parked in public I am not often in high-theft areas - though I realize we are never immune. Hope this helps until I can post a couple pics for you.
I have two different license plate frames - I got them both from CafePress.com - they have many to choose from. In Front - Hybrid Power 50 MPG /195790791 In the Rear - It's Not About Saving Money /266962137 The crowning glory is the "08 Prius" license plate; I won't have to worry about memorization of a random series of letters and numbers.
