Gurgling like "whrrrr" noise from the brake actuator when you press the brake pedal, (or when you first open the driver side door) is normal, but "grinding" noise you are describing sound abnormal. Wait for more knowledgeable brake experts like @Mendel Leisk to chime in.

    Rust on the rotors:whistle:?

Based on your avatar, you've got enough moisture around to create the rust;).

If it goes away after a couple of brake applications, it's normal(y).

Could it be ice or salt from the road getting on the rotors?, Also the Prius pedals seems to transmit lot more NVH from tires compared to my other cars.

Interesting question. I bought a mini adapter from a doctor that let's me use my prime level 1 charger with a 240v 6-20 plug. The problem I have is I charge outside and have a lock box. Since the level 1 charger that came with the prime is a straight plug I can not lock the box anymore. There is no room. If I bought a 1 foot 110 right angle extension cord at 14 gauge. Would it be short enough to not have a issue with 240v? I think the prime only pulls 16 amps. And 14 gauge is rated at 15. So with such a short run it should be ok right?

Is the lock box metal? So any fire is contained? If so, go for it! (We just do not want to set fire to your house)

I'm almost positive that @Raytheeagle hit the nail on the head. If it's been raining or even in high humidity, the rotors will flash rust. When you first start out, the brake pads will scrub the rust when they engage. It often takes a couple stops to get it all. Happens to me almost every day here in the armpit of North America. Not just a Prime thing. Any hybrid that uses a similar braking system will do that. Actually, any car can be prone to it depending on what the rotors are made of. To verify it, do as Ray suggests and do a few stops to see if it goes away.

I'm not so sure about that. I can drive the car to and from work and I notice the noise after my drive. Seems like I only notice it during EV mode at very low speeds, like -3mph while parking.

Yes it is a metal box mounted to the outside wall. One side had a 110 outlet. The other the 240 6-20

Mine have always done that. Normal sound for Prius brakes. If they are squealing, that's not normal. But the rubbing sound is just one the many sounds this car makes. If you're convinced there's a problem, then you really should take it to a brake shop, preferably one familiar with hybrids.
