Newbie question: salvage bargain?

Why are you so interested in salvage title cars? I wouldn't touch them unless I was looking for a beater for <$500 (even then, I'd be worried for my safety) or a car for its parts. Why did it receive a salvage title for a rear ender that in theory wouldn't cost so much to fix it that it was considered totaled?

You do realize both the HV and 12 volt battery are in the back, right? Who knows what else might be wrong that isn't easily visible like w/the suspension, axles and exhaust?

How much are they asking for? Again, keep in mind, you won't have a warranty.

Why not just put yourself on a waitlist for the cheapest package new Prius in your area and take the estimated $3150 tax credit?
