New to the group; I live in Western Sonoma County and got my new Prius in May. (Named Wolphina Blue in honor of the wolphin hybrid born in Hawaii....)
That zero-point-energy sounds like a good project, overtone!

    Hi Everyone,

I will be picking up my new 2005 Prius on Sunday. I will purchase the car from Capitol Toyota. Anyone have experience with them? I have a little buyers cold feet. It helps to read the post and see all the good things that are being said about the Prius.

I drive alot and hope this helps bring down my gas cost. Although, I still have to figure out some financing for the car too. Does this car really save MONEY?

Well, with gas prices the way they are, you will end saving on your gasoline bill. I have a very short commute and have already saved $600 on just gasoline. But that is compared with my old car that only got 18mpg. Your results may be different.

Good luck with your new car and have fun!

    Hello to the Group!!

I got my Prius early last month and, while I saw this thread earlier I lost track of it until now.

I guess I was lucky. I'd been looking at the Prius for some time and my old Taurus finally bit me in the wallet for the last time (or attempted to) when it ate another head-gasket. I found my car by sending emails to various dealers and Toyota 101 had two on the lot. Three days later one of them was mine. :D

Its a Super White, AM package and I'm very happy with it. I'm probably going to do the extended warranty soon (through Troy) and I'm considering side window treatment using V-Kool 70. Any ideas/feedback on the V-Kool products?

I think mine took 5 weeks or so. I was actually sad....it didn't look 'new' with real plates on it.

Just purchased my new black BI Prius at Sunnyvale Toyota on Saturday. Had a reasonably easy experience with $250 off msrp (acceptable).

    Cheers,

Hi I'm buying a silver 05 Prius from Berkeley Toyota and I landed here trying to figure out whether to buy their extended warantee and their service plan. Looks like I'm better off buying online later and not under the pressure of the dealership. Did anybody buy the Lo Jack other than at a dealership? Did anybody buy rubber bumper strips to add to their Prius?

  14. guys & gals,

Got my 05 Seaside Pearl Pkg 3 a couple of months ago - - found it on Ebay for $17,000. Of course it's a salvage title, but it only had 3300 miles on it and the repaired damage went no deeper than sheet metal only - - looks like new! An inspection at Sunnyvalle Toyota gave it a clean bill of health (except for a dubious comment that the engine was tilted 20 deg, which I believe they just like to toss in when a front-end salvage car comes through - - who knows, maybe it will bring them a few more hours of inspection work). Mileage has been consistently over 50mpg, so I'm really happy with it.

Since it's not under warranty, I will be anxious to have it modified to a PHEV when EDrive Systems gets going in the next couple of years. I am having Solar PV installed on my home sufficient to zero my electric bill and charge up the car for the next day's 30 mile trip, when the mods become available. I would be interested in any news of a modification station coming into the Bay Area.

    All, the best,

    Chuck

Hey all Prius drivers, I've had my package 7 Prius since Oct.13. I'm averaging between 50.5 and 52.3. This car is awesome. I love the bluetooth phone system. I'm going to get the SoundLinQ (Model SLI) - Auxiliary Input Adapter with Apple® iPod™ interface. Can't wait to purchase this because the cassette adaptor rattles inside the player off and on. Had all my windows tinted in Oakland at Professional Film Installations (510) 839-2430. Jim Oakes is the owner and does excellent work...this is the 7th car I've had him tinted! I had the passenger front windows tinted light ON35 and all the rest 1 under the darkest ON20. He even applied a lighter tint on the bottom back small window to match the top window. He charged me $240. for all and $190. if I didn't tint the front. Now I'm in the process to get the HOV stickers. See you on the road.
    Peace Michael J

    Looks sharp!

This should be posted in the Mods forum, where it'll have more visibility. You've posted it where the "let's-get-together" local clubs try to arrange meetings, and there's very little traffic.

Hi all, just took delivery of my '05 Super White Package #3 yesterday! Actually wasn't planning on a Prius, just interested, and walked on the lot Saturday to find a newly pre-order cancel optioned just the way I wanted :) Great luck...paid msrp (just glad not to get markup) but didn't have to wait at all...

Commuted to work over the bridge and back today and the fuel gauge still reads full! :D

and welcome. Hardly anyone will see your post in this forum, which is "way in back" (after you're familiar with the site, if you aren't already, you'll know what I mean). Also, it's a slow time of day (and getting slower, since it's past midnight in the East) to "be seen". I suggest: Go to "main forum". Select "new topic". Make your post "new member says hi" or somesuch. Say a little about yourself and/or the Prius, as you did here. Then post it.

I'm also from the Bay Area, actually, 50 mi. northeast, up I-80. We had our first Bay Area get-together in ages on Oct. 30. We may have another in the Spring.

Glad you got the car you wanted, too!

Hi there. I got on the waiting list for an '06 Prius in October. I saw someone with an '06 driving in Palo Alto the last week of November so I knew they were in! I called the dealer (Toyota 101 in Redwood City), and got my car on 12/7. I got package #6 and black. (I would've been happy with any of the three darker colors.)

I had one unhappy experience already with my Prius. I think I must've left one of the dome (ceiling) lists on, and it drained the battery that is used to start the car. I wish someone (the dealer) had told me that I needed to be careful on this. My last car (Toyota Camry) would not have given me a similar result from leaving on a dome light.

I am likely to get the Prepaid Maintenance Program (Premium - 4 year/55K mile) from the source recommended by PriusChat. It's about half the cost ($670) the dealer wants ($1295).

    Some questions:

1- Has anyone purchased the Prepaid Maint Program from another source and taken their Prius to Toyota 101 (or Toyota of Palo Alto) for service? Was this a good or bad experience?

2- How has valet parking gone for anyone? Do you leave the SKS fob with the valet?

3- What have you done for access to a spare key? What I mean is: with my Camry, AAA made me a plastic version of my key that easily fit in my wallet; is there an analog for the Prius?

    Thanks,
    Robin

    hi folks

after tracking this list 3 months, finally got my prius black 06 yesterday - was on wait list in toyota sunnyvale but gave up on them and looked at craigslist.. found one that was cancelled order yesterday and just paid MSRP for it.

I am wondering how much money I lost due to my impatience..? how many prius 06 owners in bay area are paying under MSRP (if they got it thru wait list)- am really pissed off at Toytota sunnyvale, they took my deposit back on oct 30th 05, and told me I would get delivery sometime jan 06.. but after following up and calling several times, finally last week, he says maybe sometime late feb, so I just gave up and bought the nearest prius 06 (package #8, black, not my best color but close enough)

Still, the interior is cool (dark grey leather) and the menu/nav systems looks cool
am feeling good about my decision..
now for the Carpool lane sticker.. anyone going to SFO to personally do the fastrack transponder on the same day? we could go together.
    thanks
    rekha
