Decided to fill it up today for the 1st time... Trip "b" (total mileage) was 345 with average mpg of 50.3 My hand calculated came out at 49. I am happy with that. We don't really baby this car. We drive about 5 over on the freeway when safe and just keep up with traffic. It's capable of better mileage and we certainly get it during certain trips... I keep telling myself that this is the best car for mileage on the road and just drive and enjoy!
new owner here. picked her up last night - posted a couple of pics on the main board. my few trips so far have averaged in high 30's and low 40's. sometimes i start out and i'm in the 20's. it would seem as though i have a lot to learn from all of you! i've always been a bit of a leadfoot, even in our 2010 prius. the other prius is primarily my wife's, so this is the first time i've ever really been paying close attention to my actual mileage. obviously i need to change my driving style a bit.
Filled it up for the first time avg 58.2 mpg. Having done a bunch of 25 mile commutes in the low 60's and one at 70.1, I was hoping for 60+. I never would have guessed that I would be disappointed averaging 58 mpg!
Is that indicated MPG on the car display or calculated MPG by dividing the miles traveled by the number of gallons at fill up?
Okay... just had to make sure as the indicated has been running about 2-3MPG higher than the calculated per fill up. http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-c...indicated-mpg-c-please-post-your-results.html I don't think the car is so smart... it surely is optimistic, though. Congrats on some great numbers... they will improve further once you realize that the car is the master and you're the grasshoppa'.
I just bought a 2012 Prius C and am getting 43 MPG so far with 900 miles on it. Not impressed with the MPG since my old 2007 Prius got 47MPG. I hope it gets better. If not I just got screwed AGAIN on a car purchase.
I just topped off tank with 3 gallons and averaged 60.78 over 192 miles of 35-55mph two lane driving.! I forgot what computer said but, I'm guessing it was 2 mpg higher, which seems to be the norm.
Only put about 45 miles on the car but the comp says I'm averaging 54mpg in the hilly streets of S.F. Will report back once I've gone through a tank
My own calculations from gas receit and mileage came in a 45 MPG. When i drive the HIway miles are 47 and city ist around 51. I think the guage is off but i can control it by acceleration and easing off the pedal. Should i take it in to service for them to check? It also idles high then shuts of to EV mode at stop signals
Your car can do a lot better than that. It just takes some small adjustments in driving habits and learning some new techniques. Are you doing 75-80 on the freeway? There's your problem. You're not going to get the mpg benefits driving that fast (mostly because of air drag)- though that's still better than pretty much everything else at that speed.
Drove from syosset long island to NYC, during rush hour in the HOV. Traffic was roughly 10 to 40mph the entire 1.5 hour trip. The car registered 71.3 mpg. Incredible.
My calculated mpg on my last three fill-ups were: 59.97 (445 miles) 56.88 (452 miles) 61.59 (480 miles) The mpg display tended to show about 4% higher than the calculated values. I'm finding it easier to get good mileage with the "c" than with my 2008 Prius.
